starting and tuning tips req

My 800hd clone arrived today and i was half expecting it
to be like setting up my 5400-tm, the spec as far as i
can tell is...

How does that look ?
I see no sat list for scanning and as my dish is on 1w
when i hit scan i thought it would scan 1w...tried it
but nothing found.
Just a few tips would be helpfull, read up on it before
i arrived and thought i would be ok for getting it up
and running, i read a few stickies but the step by
step guides when followed dont take me where i'm
reading, dont see any usuals in menu, and no sats
pre installed like my last box.

Hi mapex

Type in google (setting up dm800 none usals) you will find a pdf file there. Brummies guide. It is on this site posted by westkill.
You need to configure your box. BE VERY PATIANT!!

Look for Catseyes E2 settings on here and use those m8. They work ok with the 800

I have that open just now but the bit its getting
me is...
reception setting
configaration mode....wheni go left or right i see
enabled---go left---nothing connected...even though
i have my sat cable, which i recut the end screwed
in....it was and is working on on my other box.
Cant seem to get--configaration mode-advanced.

My patience is ok....i'm cool about it just stuck here.

Have you got a channels list with satellites ? Search the one i suggested and use that,

Sounds like you've bought a cable version in error!!!

yep , well spotted dave , you need a new tuner for your box , (plug + play) dvb-s2 sat tuner , if its a clone try getting the latest L3 tuner from your supplier

Well i dont need to tell you how i feel today...f------ depressed to say the least...i remember ending up
with 2 in my basket when i ordered it, saw 1 was
cable 1 was sat deleted the wrong one and ........

Whats my chances of getting it exchanged ? i know i
need to pay postage ect but thats not a problem...
dvbseller was where i bought it. Emailed them already
and awaiting reply......jesus ------- christ is all i can
say what an p---- i feel.

Worst case.......i could buy a tuner and fit it
and it would be ok for sat ?
Emailed them but no reply as yet and dont see
a phone number.
The rest of the box is the same and its a straight
fit as in 1 in 1 out...see the tuners on 40ish and
may be as well just buying it, cost of post would
probable be more.

did you get the spare back-plate with your box , as you will need that too , sat tuner back-plate slightly diferant to cable one , just bite the bullet mate , by the time you have ~~~~~ed about with supplier and shipping you be ?33 out of pocket anyway

could have been mush worst mate , at least its plug+play tuners

westkill , should be ok , provided your not on sim1 , bl 69 , as i read reports these older clones aren`t able to take l3 tuner , and no known fix

So what u think just buy a tuner or send it back and that link has no backplates anywhere else i could look.....
mmm.....dunno to send back.....any more opinions.
Still feel like a complete......you know....did 100s of
buying on the web and never made this type of error
before....
