DM800 Clone - Sky HD jumping, 81% SNR

Hello all,

I have a DM800 clone with bootloader 75, its running Patched Jade PLi image.

Everything is working really well apart from Sky Sports 1 HD and ESPN HD

Its shows a small bar of mixed up pixels every now and again.

I have checked the SNR and it goes from 76%-83%
Is this good enough for the HD channels?
Is there anything else i can do please? all the other HD channels are working perfect but these 2 channels which are the only ones i will ever probably watch!!!!!!
Is there any way i can fine tune it maybe?

Could anyone please help?

just to add:

Just been to Maplins and got ripped off for a sat finder (?15)

I have tweaked the dish to the best i can, and it is still glitching
Now even the normal channels are freezing every 30sec or so

looking at the SNR it goes from 62% then upto 83% for a sec then drops and then works its way backup.

BER is around 3500 ?

Couldit be as simple as the Freq (set to 11836) is incorrect?
In SatFind if i change the freq to 11877 it stays steady at 86% !! but it doesnt seem to store this?
Or am i going around this completely the wrong way!

you need a in-line amp. only about ?3 on ebay.

sky sports1 hd/espn hd/discovery hd/syfi hd usually freeze on the 800 clone, unless it's the latest tuner.

you can also fit a resistor to the motherboard, though probably cheaper and easier to use the amp.

btw your ber should be at 0.

as above , make sure it is inline amp sloping 13db - 19db

What you have revision tuner inside DM800 ?
Sometimes is problem with SKY UK .

ive been on the roof for another 30min and sky sport 1 hd is glitcvhing alot less but still just about unwatchable.
Back to maplins tommorow it is then!!
Somebody else told me i need a larger/newer SKy dish that sky have brought out for sky hd? (currently have a minidish)

just looking at the pictures, i have here in front of me a 15db attenuator from cable days?
completely different item?

hey , i found that the in-line amp worked for me but then after a day the channel (only skysports hd1) started to jitter again? any solutions?...

THe problem fluctuates from channel to channel on a daily basis.
All this week ESPN HD has been bad as have SS1 HD and SS2HD.
Today they are all fine for me and its SS3 HD that is particulaly bad. Yesterday ESPN and SS1 were not watchable, today no problem.
The line amp makes no difference to me either way.
When the issue is at its worse try going into the positioner settings and take a look at the signal for that particular transponder. For me it zooms up and down from around 75% down to 50%.
When its a no issue day like it is today for ESPN, the signal remains constant, 85% on ESPN HD and just 62% on SSN HD but no problem with either.
Its this wild fluctuation thats the problem and its SKY / ASTRA that is causing the issue. Never seen it on any other satellite, even week ones have stable HD pictures at 50% signal.
I have 2 setups, one using a 70 cm dish and another using a 120cm dish and today I am seeing the same issues on SS3 HD although obviously its not has much of an issue on the larger dish. BUt even on the 120 dish the signal is fluctuating wildly on SS3 HD.

Just to say I have 2 seperate 800s, one older than the other with different boot loadeders and tuners and I see the same issue on both no matter what size dish they are connected to.
