          DM800 HD PVR

          Hi folks,

I'm a newbie on this site but have been looking/browsing for quite a while and reading various posts.
I have just taken delivery of a dm800 hd which was listed as genuine and priced at the price of a clone (?180.00). I have seen the pictures of the differences and it does look like a genuine box with the rough housing and black screws at the back but does have a packaged dvi cable and the power supply looks like the one supplied with clone boxes.
          I'm now confused : (
Is it possible that the manufacturers have now changed the covers etc to look like the genuine box? if so, what is the safest image to use on it so i don't brick it?

I look forward to hearing back from you guys. A BIG THANKS!

if the unit has any referance to "sim2" , "sim 2.01" on the packaging or a sticker on underside or in the small lcd screen when booting then its a clone , dream multimedia never made a dm800 "PRO"
The term pro was added by the clone makers when they eventually got the box performing perfectly as earlier non pro units suffered with inferior tuners .
If you bought a pro then its a good thing (obviously 2nd to an original) and the important factor when updating your image is the sim type
A pro box has sim 2.01 , so only images patched by sim 2.01 team are compatable

Lists all the current uptodate images compatable for sim 2.01

                That's great, thanks.
It looks like the manufacturers have made it look like an original when comparing the pictures of the casing and screw colours at the back.
In your opinion, should i change the image or keep the existing one? I haven't even connected the box up yet as it only arrived this morning. I have some instructions on setting up thanks to Bally12345's guide

you should connect it up mate and see what image is already on it and what sim version it is. (will display in the oled when starting up)

then you can decide what you want to do.

most of my units usually ship with gemini images , i aint a fan of them myself , for a new user pheonix is perfect , as it has a large fan base , so support is top-notch , also very user friendly mate
