scan on dm500s versus dm800 different results

was just wondering i done scan with dm800 and found all free to air on 28.2 ,true movies, music, etc.with 80% signal i also in another room scanned with dm500 similiar signal but am not picking up true movies and a few other channels ,both boxes are new to me was wondering why the difference ,what reason would 500 not show channels , basically what can i be doing wrong ??

different satellite.xml files maybe?

there r alot of sites offering updated satellite.xml files for dreambox.. you may use this site satellites.xml generator or google "satellite.xml generator"

once u obtain the ml file,, upload it to ur boxes as below:
dm500 - /var/etc
dm800 - /etc/tuxbox

always take backup of the existing files before uploading the new ones just incase.
once uploaded, restart ur boxes and scan again

Well if you are using a Dual or Quad LNB, and if your satellite is not positioned correctly, the Second-Third-Forth port on the LNB just might not be getting any of the signal that the first port is getting.

ye i ticked that when scanning and same ,,allunfennel could be right ,should i tweak dish any way ,thanks for your advice lads ,will keep on plugging away its a motorised set up and dm800 controls motor and seems ok so maybe i am using wrong set up on dm500 there are 3 options for sat set up ,which one do i use

ye i have a 85cm dish with a quad technomate lmb the 800 is doing the driving , the 500 connected direct to lmb ,,am i making a mess of things cause ignorance is bliss ,,help

Get a good set of bouquets and no need for scanning.
You then just have to sort out your regional fta channels like itv central,itv anglia depending on what area you live in.
I found when i first started i had the same problem as you and was missing loads of channels.
The bouquets sort this for you and make like easy.

Scan using the same cable on bothe boxes, this will narrow down the problem

hello jackpot ye gave it a whiz on other cable today ,same result when i scanned ,anyone have a list of bouquets and what program should i put them in with and where ,,apreciate your help so far
