DM800 -Occasionally losing all output to TV / Black Screen

    Hi all,

not sure if this is a common problem, or even if its software or hardware....

Basically every now and again i get a black screen when watching HD channels.
Im pretty sure its not a loss of service, as when it comes back on it get the "HDMI 1" message pop up from the TV asthough the HDMI has just been plugged in etc.

I have Autoresolution turned OFF in the menus and have it set to DVI, 720p, 50Hz, and LetterBox.
im running Dream-Elite 1.3.3 original image.

Can any suggest what my problem could be? is this what happens when a tuner is on its way out or something?

    Thanks in advance.

the same happened to mine the picture just goes while watching something, iv just turned autoresolution on in the last couple of days and it hasnt done it since,,, although it didnt happen that often anyway. i have to hard reset mine using the menu on the front display of the dreambox to get the picture back on when it goes off.

If your tv is not full HD check your system settings and make sure it's not set to 1080, set the mode to 720p

            THE TRUTH
            The Hillsborough Independent Panel. 12/09/12

Today's report is black and white. The Liverpool fans were not the cause of the disaster.
The panel has quite simply found 'no evidence' in support of allegations of 'exceptional levels of drunkenness, ticketlessness or violence among Liverpool fans' and 'no evidence that fans had conspired to arrive late at the stadium' and 'no evidence that they stole from the dead and dying'.

Mine comes back on after about 0.5sec and only happens rarely. Just hoping that it isnt hardware, overheating or something.

                    You got it mate

I have just wiggled the HDMI end of the cable in the back of the TV and it does the exact problem.

Looks like i need to find myself a new DVI > HDMI cable that will carry sound and also fit !
I could do with a longer one to be honest, does anyone have a link to a seller please?
                    Thanks

you can buy a dongle thing that will take you dm800 output plug from dvi to hdmi , then use a standard hdmi cable mate , dont worry about audio carrying , it will be there on standard cable , mate did same , he not sure where he got dongly thing from tho , google "dvi to hdmi"

make sur you get your males and females right , or you may end up needing a dvi cable

this looks right , but double check

In case anyone else needs to buy an adpator, the one below DOES NOT WORK:

Its by ZOTAK and missing a set of 6 pins in the middle area.
