Wouldnt it be simpler to disable it and spend a few quid on a usb fan??

they only put one screw in, you can get another fan on the net (dm800 fan) or you can take it out and spray some wd in it, which works (for a while) or as said order a usb laptop cooler and unplug the noisy one.

Take the lid off and unplug it, but you are better taking it off peeling the label back and putting a drop of oil or Vaseline on the spindle as that will solve the noise issue.

Thanks Fergie, but where is the fan located in the DM 800hd, it looks as though sound is coming from under tuner. Does that mean I have to take tuner out to get to fan. Any pictures of it please

This shows you how to put a heatsink and fan on but yours will already have them fitted and you only need to unscrew the fan from the heatsink
tuner slides out like a pc card just be gentle with it
then unscrew the fan from the heatsink peel the label back and pop a tiny bit of oil on the spindle and put the label back on or use a bit of insulation tape if the label wont stick back down.

I would probably advise just to disconnect the fan completely and get a

Foldable usb laptop fan from ebay. These have 2 fans in them and are ?1.99 delivered.

Not sure if I can post a direct link
