I don't think its the root privilege s the op wants to change davvo, just some kinda parental control on the settings, nice to see you got no time for scammers an schemers tho mate

                          @cactikid

to unlock a 500 which is asking for a pin to enter the menu

start DCC click telnet and paste this line in

                          Code:
                          cat /var/tuxbox/config/enigma/config|grep -i pins
                          look for this line
                          i:/elitedvb/pins/setuplock=
find last 4 digits on that line
then go here Hex To Decimal Converter
type the 4 digits in the hex value box
                          click convert
and it will show the pin

                          if you cant use telnet
                          fire up dcc and goto
                          /var/tuxbox/config/enigma/config
                          right click edit
                          and look for this line
                          i:/elitedvb/pins/setuplock=
find last 4 digits on that line
                          and convert them as above

you can also use the plugin
                          Tuxbox Commander
                          start tuxbox
                          navigate to /var/tuxbox/config/enigma/config
press 3 on remote to view
                          look for this line
                          i:/elitedvb/pins/setuplock=
find last 4 digits on that line
                          and convert them as above

the 800 will never ask for a setup pin
                            cuz you cant lock it
although the options is there to do it

                            if i tell then
you will start seeing on forums

yeh , fair point Davvo , maybe the OP can just put his remote on a high-shelf , then the "kids" cant go doing frustrating stuff with menu`s
