    diseqc switch - help/advice please

    alright chaps,

i have a dreambox 800, a 1 metre motorized dish - that goes as far as 19.2 in the summer and does pick up 28.2 in winter (big tree in way and leaves block signal) but want a signal all year round, not just when leaves come off tree!

i have bought a sky mini dish and due to it being smaller i can place in a better position i.e aiming around the tree at the bottom of garden.

so basically i am aiming to run a sky mini dish, and motorized dish on the dreambox.

what is the best way to do this etc

as always any advice be massive help.. cheers

Kyleb. The only way to do that is to run 2 seperate cables to the box and and swap the cables as you need. The idea of a diseqc switch is to use fixed dishes, up to 8 I think, and your dm800 will use the dish that is locked on the satellite you are wanting to veiw channels. So it's one or the other mate.

      Hope thats a help

Can an "a/b switch" not be used? Cheap as chips too.

I could only get my A/B switch working on the fixed dish, When I went motored I couldn't, I left the Fixed dish cable at the back just incase I needed it

It can be done using a DiSEqC switch, a friend of mine used to use a TM600 with a motorised dish and a fixed dish with 3 LNBs through a four way DiSEqC switch.

Can't remember exactly how he did it, but if i recall, you have to store your sat posistions using DiSEqC 1.2 settings, rather than usals.

Then in sat configuration menu there is a a 'non standard user defined configuration' (will be different on a DM800) to set it up.

A bit of googling should find the correct configuration for a DM800,though

            EDIT

Just found this with a bit of Googledge.....

            Code:
            On your remote

            Menu-Setup-Service Searching-Tuner Config and select DVBs2

            Set configuration mode to Advance

Scroll to the satellite selection line and use the <> buttons on your remote to select a sat position.

Now Scroll to LNB and use the > button to select LNB1. Repeat this for all positione your motor is using.

Then for the fixed dish sat position select LNB2.
Google 'DM800 motorised and fixed dish' there is loads of info out there...

i sure i have read somewhere also that the position of the switch is a big factor?

              edit

              knew had seen it somewhere:

"After some investigating I found it only works if the receiver is connected first to the motor and then through the switch.

              So...

              xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx xxxLNB on fixed dish
              Receiver --- Motor --- Switch ===
              xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx xxxLNB on motorised dish"

so from reading various posts etc it seems it can be done.with people trying all different kinds of options:

"Not sure if anyone is using such as setup with their 800, but I have found it to be a little temperamental with two switches I have here. Sometimes it needs zapping back and forth to get it to work properly.

I have found on other forums the 800 is fussy regarding the diseqc switch used. Apparently the "Spaun" range are recommended:

                4x1 switch SPAUN electronic - Products / SAR 411 F

                2x1 switch SPAUN electronic - Products / SAR 212 F"

an interesting option might see how much they retail for
