It wont boot if it's not getting any power it's impossible, unless you know some genius way of not using electric, if you tried reading the whole post maybe you would see his problem.if you have the correct null modem cable all the dead ones ive seen still boot
useing the info in that thread or this one.

The fact that sometimes when you put the lead into the box, suggests to me that something is not quite right inside the box, so as Andy says i would try puting the lead in the box and moving it about a bit, i have had this trouble before with one box.Comment

Thanks for your valued input psats, but our problem is power or the lack of it. When we insert the power lead into the DM800 box there is absolutely nothing (I have no fan in my unit just a heatsink), nothing showing on the unit's display and nothing showing in dreamup software, its like the units motherboard is dead except for the light on the Ethernet socket.if you have the correct null modem cable all the dead ones ive seen still boot

So with no power at all we cannot connect the unit to dreamup to flash, hope this makes the problem clearer.
In the worst case scenario is there anywhere where we can send these units for repair or purchase a new m/board for the DM800.

You can by new mother boards but the cost difference between a mother board and a new box is not that much, If you are 100% sure the box is getting power then, can you solder?? because there is posts elsewhere about fixing boxes with ethernet lights on, but you need to be able to solder to sort the problem. Thanks for your valued input psats, but our problem is power or the lack of it. Look fellas this is meant to be a forum for helping people like myself into finding things out and passing on the knowledge to others who will hopefully pass it on if they see someone else with the same problems.
To many of these threads turn into a fight and get side tracked from the original problem.
Lets just try and get his box working by trying all the different variables and getting along.
Whether he has a fan or not his box aint booting up so we need to work out why.

Think theres been a few crossed wires in this thread mate pardon the pun as two of you have problems in the same thread that you started.
Can see where people were getting mixed up.
If the fans working that mean the psu is working fine so it looks like something else.
All i can add is to keep trying Dreamup and keep pushing the power in and out till hopefully you get a connection.
This actually happened to me the first day i bought my Dm800.
Daft question but are you starting Dreamup before you power up the Dm800????
