    ftp to dreambox issues

    Hi guys, experiencing some problems trying to ftp to my dm800 lately, i am using at a different location for a few weeks and set the box up ok with my network.

    I have tried using dcc to ftp to it but im getting that silly ftp component not ready message, i have also tried other ftp programs like flashfxp but still cant connect properly.

    It is very strange cause i know the ip and everything is ok because it is like hit and miss, yesterday once it opened using dcc but has failed ever since, again same with flashfxp, i put in the ip and password and the dialogue box opens up showing the files on dreambox but when i go into one e.g. if i click to go into the etc/ folder nothing happens and it just has the white blank box same as before you ftp to the dram box. Any ideas guys?

    I use Flashfxp with no problems.
    Are you using a different router? Hence the ip would be slightly different?
    Username Root
    Password-Dreambox
    Port=21

      yeah different, im curious do i need to forward this port manually or is it usually open, and im using the correct ip for sure because it has displayed files from my dreambox, it gets them but doesnt allow me into them it seems.

      It basically works when it wants to. So that obviously means the ips are set up correct.

        Dont think you have to port forward it.I would check in your network and make sure the ip address hasnt been changed as it does wth Dhcp.
        Every chance if you have swapped from one router to another the ip address has changed on the Dreambox.

        Manually change it and do a network test.Will rule out then if its the ip address.

        Also can you connect using Dreambox Edit??

        See if that connects and if dont you no for sure its your Dreambox ip.

            I would start agan with the network so if you have a router with settings 192.168.2.1 make this also your gateway and nameserver and make the Dreambox something like 192.168.2.100

            Dont forget to reboot afterwards and then try again.

            These settings are for a Belkin router but change them to suit your router,

                Thats what i put in earlier post i think its giving him a different ip each time he starts the box.
                Cant see it being anything else.

                      didnt try that because i wanna keep dream ip the same. I personally think its got to do with my isp, I cant seem to xbox live to work either, with all the appropriate ports and settings chose.

                        It looks like you are using wrong settings in Dreambox. Why
                        don't you copy down communication settings in dreambox so you
                        can re-enter them when you use box at original location. You
                        can't connect a box to diff. router & expect it to operate using
                        same settings.
                        Simplest way is to click DHCP & ENABLE NETWORK on box and
                        let router assign settings for you. Same with xbox, set to auto
                        connect to network. If this doesn't work check firewall settings
                        on router are not set to max. You might have to enter FTP in
                        FIREWALL EXEMPTIONS

                          the ip and network is perfect on dreambox its connected by lan can access the online settings an etc and download plugins. My main issue is that when trying to ftp to it, it works only for a few moments then stops, so all my ip settings have to be correct because i am able to ftp some times i was able to change cccam settings earlier but cant get back on now, very frustrating.

                            If you can download plug-ins on-line box must be connecting to internet. Did you try listing Flash-FXP in firewall exemptions
                            The only time I had problem with Flash-FXP on another router Ihad to click on PASSIVE in Flash-FXP OPTIONS. I presume you
                            are using same version of FXP that you used at your own house. If not make sure you have clicked ON SHOW HIDDEN FILES;
                            Click OFF CACHE DIRECTORIES & click ON PASSIVE if folders
                            show empty when FXP says connected.
                            If you continue to have hassle with this you could have a look at using; TOTAL COMMANDER or TELNET
