The lack of replies would suggest it is a no - and I think if you do a quick search you will see that the Sky+ is a subscription service and there are rules about threads about that very topic.

But anyway, the definite answer is - You cant.

Thanks, I thought it unlikely but assumed it was worth asking.

Just for info the sky+ box was purchased as part of the service but the guy with the box no longer has any service from sky but still has his decoder which has been used for FTA channels for quite a while now.
He will take delivery of an 800 in the next days - hence the question.

Surely that does not infringe on any subscription rights etc?

Still I appreciate your help answering the question posed.

There is no infringement on any subscription rights with the FTA channels. The Sky+ service is however a subsription only service. You can if you have a aviewing card contact them and pay them ?10 a month (i think) and they will provide you with Sky+ on the FTA channels.

Sky could still bill him for the box. They get thier money back through the life of the subscription on the box. After the first 12 months the box would then be paid for. If nothing in the small print of the contract then i am wrong, but i would have thought sky would have covered this.

As for a disk from a sky+ box into a dm800 or vica a versa, simple answer - No - DM800 take a 2.5" sata HDD. Sky+ have a IDE 3.5" HDD (newer sky boxes have sata interface to allow larger storage)

              Cheers Cunny.

The box ownership is with my mate, Sky have no claim to that box.
I do recognise that removing the disk from the + box and using this in a caddy would work .... but.... my question was does anyone know if it is left in the + box can it be used as a recording medium by the DM800?

I doubt this can be done but there are many guys out there more clever than me and it just may be possible?
