Dreambox Sold on Ebay - Too Good to be True?

    Hi guys,

I've never owned a dreambox before and just yesterday a friend of mine just installed one which he bought from a local store and I was amazed with all those channels he has access to and I must say I'm really tempted to buy one now. I searched on Ebay to see what's available there and I found this Dream Box HD DM800 PRV Satellite Receiver for ?180 sold by a UK seller but coming from Hong Kong.

I asked the seller a couple of questions; first, whether it works fine outside the UK (in Italy) and he said YES.
I also asked if there's access to SKY Italia's channels and he told me that what I've got to do is to go into the menu pick the italian Sattelite and then bang you have all sattalite channels that play in Italy.

I also asked the seller whether with this kind of dreambox he' s selling, it is necessary to make an additional monthly subscription against a monthly payment to get the channels or whether it's just "plug'n'play and ready to go" with all the channels readily available there with no monthly subscriptions necessary? And once again he replied with a positive answer as he told me that no you will never have to subscribe ever again.

Having said this, will someone please tell me whether the replies given by this seller to my questions are too good to be true? Especially about the "monthly subscription" thing - my friend pays a fee of ?13 monthly to get all the channels but as this seller told me the dreambox he's selling needs no monthly subscription. Is this possible?

One final thing, I'm completely new to this dreambox/dish/satellite world as I've never owned one before. If I buy this dreambox, is it something easy to install and make the setup work by myself as it is something straight forward or it is something rather complex and I definitely require some help from someone expert in the field to make it working?

Thanks in advance for your help.

    Regards,

no you wont have to pay a sub why would you ? That is for free to air channels though for subsciption channels you will need either a subscription for them channel's from the providers ,A local card to share abd share with peers accross europe or a sub to a server like your friends has but for ultimate control and access to what YOU want i would go for your own local and share it .

this requires a bit more knowledge but its all part of learning and grasping things.

DealExtreme Product Forum: Patched DM800 HD Firmwares
