    Do you need a HD TV?

    Do you need a HD TV for the DM800 HD? Or will it work on a SD TV?

    I read somewhere that it will only function on a HD TV but I would have thought that it would still work on SD but that you would only be able to view SD channels and not HD channels.

    So could someone please clear this up for me as I am planning on purchasing one in the near future if it will work on my SD tv.

      You will not get HD on an SD tv, so although you will get a pic it will not be HD because your tv wont support it. If you use a VM HD box via a scart lead you will only view the channels in SD. So on that basis your better off getting a HD TV or getting an SD box.

              Been using my Dm 800 hd regulary on my old digital upstairs via scart.
              Hd channels work but come out as Sd so not a problem.
              Getting my new tv tomorrow,cant wait

                  im not interested in HD channels but want a 800s for more than what my 500s can provide.

                      aah excellent. I will eventually upgrade my TV but in no hurry tbh

                          Is there more, other than the same channels in HD, which you wll only get in SD like i said ? I'll have to check that out

                              i dont mean more channels, i mean the ability to add a hard drive, enigma 2.....

                                  you can get a 32" LCD TV - 1080p for under ?230 now...

                                  If you're spending ?180 on a box seems you can afford that

                                      its one or the other strapped for cash the now and want the box more plus i want to save the pennies and purchase a a good tv.... in time
