which dm to buy?

should i buy a dm518s or go for the dm800 ??
what do i get for twice the price ?
ok, i know of.... 800 has hd(not bothered tbh), recording option ( single tuner in 800 ?and i have a pvr dvd player) and better pg.(will it look like std sly pg to keep family happy ?)

If you dont want HD then get the 518s.. its a ?100 cheaper

No EPG on these boxes come anywhere close to the one Sky or Virgin offer..

The EPG's are pretty shite to be honest, especially on the 518S.. You need to mount a network drive to get a half decent one..

Basically a 500s, in a body similar to DM600, but with internal power supply, power switch on rear panel and component video output

the tuner is also a lot better than the standard 500 clone

my 500s clone has a power switch at the back of it and is the black model with the silver stripe but it says its a 500s onfront.

but tbh for ?42 back 500s just get it from china , mine was here in 9 days

you can get a good epg with the back 500s 518 clons ect and the black ones iv see alll had alps tuners !

The epg on the Dm600 is pretty good and its also very good on the DM800 using Dream Elite image.
I actually prefer these epg's to the Sky one.
You can arrange the channels in the order you want ,you can delete any crap channels ,you dont have to watch channels via "other channels",its far easier to see whats on at any one time .
I agree that the Rytec epg on a DM500/518 is poor but it works perfectly on the 600.

epg on dm800 on dreamelite image is faultless mine is set to download to usb stick for extra memory and the box runs flawlessly

i would like a decent epg, also i will find it difficuly to convince my mate to let me install one at his if he loses his epg................
can the db go in series and o/p a signal to a std sly box in anyway ? ie db does its stuff but user just uses slybox as normal ?

hope that question is within the rules ?
