Any how I also have a twin fan via usb fitted on top of the 800, and have just bought a laptop cooler for the unit to sit on. Over the top maybe.

The question is best way to power it, do I use the second usb port on the back of the 800? or is it better to use your method via the scart socket?
    Cheers Guys
Hi, did your first dm800 how did it go, did it start glitching picture breaking up and just died ?, i disconnected my internal fan while back, didnt use any fan, ran ok, but when i put hand on top cover by tuner, and was really hot, so i thought not good for long term, so now got a 120mm pc fan on top and cant hear it at all

It was acouple of years old, no glitch probs because it had the capacitor fix on the tuner. There was no integral fan, but it did have a twin fan fitted on top of the unit, the problem was the fan would just stop now and again.
Keep it cool at all tmes!

Hi mate, what image are you using ?

I'm using nabilo black hole 012
        Press menu/set up/system/a/v settings,
        Change video output to scart,
Scroll down to aspect ratio and change to auto or 16:9,
        (Aspect Ratio & status 4:3 = 9.5-12v, 16:9 = 5-8v)
Scroll back to video output and change back to DVI,
        Press green button to save,
        Exit out x3.
This works for me, other images might have different set up.
        Cheers,
        bugsy.

Thanks Bugsy nice and easy I used to have my fan on the usb
port the problem then is the fan is always on even in standby

on the other hand it's better to have it on continously
if you use the timer (recordings) the box will then also
get hot anyway the scart option is perfect

          Thanks again,

no problems. i have a usb outside fan connected. turned off during the night.

new 800se has a fan built in and i also have usb fan connected and the thing dosen't even get warm. that built in fan is a real mother. :-)

My box has a small fan inside but still feels hot on top , sounds like l need to turn off at night then , lm sure it's the tuner that's getting hot and the fan is on the mother board , have ordered a USB twin fan for the box to sit on , hope that helps ,

definately would advise the exterior fan mate. mine has internal as well but i always had the usb ones as well.

                          no problems.

I turn mine off every night, but leave it on standby during the day and have a notebook cooler underneath as it does get hot.

I got the old DM800 so the internal fan doesnt turn off when in standby like the pro versions, i dissconnected my fan, got a 120mm pc fan on top blowing air in, connected it to the back usb, spins at like 400rpm no noise at all, totally silent, when i feel top not even warm, the tuner is dead cold, i dont put mine on standby never crashes runs perfect, been going strong for over a year now, im also running phoenix image edition 2
