Sorry Lads but i did as instructed but without success... do you thing that the devices are npt competatable.... one think that i noticed is that when i plug out the digital optical out from the surround system a red beam can be seen but when i plug out the lead from the dreambox it has no red beam (lead is plug it in the surround).

I cannot understand why no sound can be heard . Channels that we tried are dobly surround..

          Any help is greatily appreciated...

The red light is actually the sound signal generated by the Dreambox. So you can only see it from the side of the cable that you attach to your sound system. Are you sure you are pointing your sound system to the right digital optical input from its menu. If you can see the red light it means Dreambox and cable are ok.

are you not better connecting the optical cable into the output on your TV, then to your input on the surround sound amp? otherwise every time you turn the TV off, you'll still have sound out the speakers?

I am not familiar with a Samsung system, but you usually have to configure the sound system as well. If for instance I did not inform my AV amp to put the sound through the optical,it will assume it is going through the HDMI, and you will only receive PCM through that.

I thought you only got surround sound out put( if available) by setting AC3 audio in the audio selection from MPEG? It works for me.

Volume control of AC3 signals only works if AC3 downmix is activated. Please keep in mind that AC3
downmix will disable the output of real AC3 signals on every audio out, even on the S/P DIF output. Check that AC3 downmix is off in Dreambox Menu.
