initialising harddrive with barry allen?

Eventually got barry allen up and running which was great , i went to record a program and my dreambox 800hd said to initialise the harddrive...I had to go into the flash image to make this work but i lost all barry allen and all images on it...What is the correct procedure to set the harddrive up when im using multiboot ..Help appreciated guys....Thanks ...Rhurbarb

Would guess you got to set it up on the image that is in the flash mate , not the multi boot images, when initialized and mounted correctly on flash image it should then work within the b/a images too ,

BA is supposed to be installed on aCF card or USB drive, not on hard disk, which you appear to have done?

I have always installed all my BA's on the hard drive on all on my boxes. To the OP if you have initialised your hard drive after installing BA then just re-install BA again and it should be fine.

Thanks guys ...i have lots of problems ..i have reinstalled barry allen then when i done a software update on another image it crashed and wiped ba out

.I have had ba on a usb stick before but for some reason this tim it installed on my hd instead ..I had my usb formatted and mounted before 1 loaded in ba.I would prefer ba to e installed on the hardrive to be honnest..

l have to format my hd and flash another image in i guess.Then do i intialise the harddrive in the flashimage and then add barry allen? Also if i add another image in multiboot do i have to be on the flash image to do this? i have others not using the flash image and i think its gave me lots of grief...Hope that makes some sense ..im starting to confuse myself ...Thanks guys...Rhurbarb

ps can i wipe my dreambox via usb on dreamup or do i have to use the serial cable?

the preferred method for multiboot is using usb , not hdd , i reckon your best starting a fresh mate, and make sure its going on usb

I normally restart my system clean by booting up into the web version. Install an image through the web manager, then install BA on my CF flash card, leaves my hard disk alone for me to format anytime I like.

Is this the correct procedure for a new dm7025 without hdd (coming later). Install BA pure flash with the cf card inserted and it will find it. Next install image..where will this go, cf card too, there was no option? So when a hdd is fitted it can be formatted or initialised, nothing being lost and ready to record?

i d/load image into the flash memory on dreambox

i then on nabilo anyway dowload barry allan direct from add ons (or you can do it manually)

i then copy barry allan onto compact flash card and then any further additions to my nabilo are all added to compact flash card (not the dm flash as it can create problems as its only 30 MB)

if i wanted to add another image i would add this to the DM flash memory replacing nabilo then follow the same procedure and copy the new image to compact flash card using barry allan

everytime you reboot or start your dm barry allan will start and you pick the image of your card you want to use

I installed barry allen first. I think I should wipe the card and try again but I cant see any options to do this, nor how to direct a file to a given directory? I used dreamUp/null modem cable.

just load up image to flash on Dm,null modem is fine

then add barry allan from either server or add it manaully through blue button add ons

after install of barry allan press green button and select barry allan you should somewhere have the option to format the CF card

after you have formatted the CF copy the image you installed in flash to the CF card (you have the option to do this in barry allan)

now use the copied image as your working image add cams,skins or whatever else you have the capacity to add whatever as the CF card Stores a lot compared to the DM's flash


if you wish too add another image for multi-boot install into the DM's flash the same as you did before barry allan should already be there now on the CF card already so you can just copy the new image direct to the card as you did with the first

repeat process for any other images you wish to use just remember if you keep the image in the DM flash memory you are limited to 30MB so transfer all new images to cf card before adding to them

The barry allen auto installed on the cf card on the second attempt, so then loaded the nabilo image again which I guess installed from what I see on screen but prior to this I could access the barry allen in the addons but now its not there so I dont know if the nabilo image is on the internal flash or the cf card? There is mb_image folder on the cf card but cannot open it or do anything with it. I can get to the green panel>nabilo e2 addons manager but the blue button just gives me sleep timer,multi epg (which I dont have?) vlc player & picture in pic, but I cant access the barry allen menu or the blue panel since the image flash?

Ok, I can get to the blue panel but barry allen isnt there. but addons is not there now? Its definately on the cf card but I think the nabilo image is on the internal flash, but I cant transfer it to the cf card. Do these boxes take a long time to boot, the blackhole screen appears>loading default> starting enigmaII, I can only compare with my old Dbox which was a lot quicker?
