SNR Strength only 20% on transponders

Hi guys, i bought a TM500 patched with latest UR image not long ago from a good friend.

Got it home, scanned for channels using automatic sat scan and everything was fine. Ccam working fine, getting all channels.

All of a sudden, most of the channels are not working any more. Keep getting wrong data transmission or picture is very glitchy.

Anyone have any idea what might have gone wrong?

has your dish moved as a lower signal would confirm this.

      Thanks for the quick reply.

I haven't manually moved the dish and the weather has been excellent.... i can't see that the dish would have moved.

I've also tried using DBEdit to upload tonedeff's channel list and satellites.xml file. The channel list updates and they are all there, but hardly any of them seem to work, and those that do are very glitchy, even FTA channels.

On the channels that i can get a picture, i'm getting about 80% on SNR and the ones i can't get receive about 20% SNR.

P.S. Updated to latest UR Image this morning to try and fix, but still the same.

      Help!!!!!! ARRRRGGGGGGGH!!!!

I am also 99.9% sure that i was only getting around 80% SNR when all the channels were working fine in the beginning...... just wondering if i've done something stupid

I've double checked all the cables and stuff, seems to be ok..... you reckon it could be worth testing on a friend's dish?

Hi again guys, plugged my box into my neighbours satellite connection and everything worked without a problem....... determined that either my cabling or lnb is shot. My neighbour kindly let me run a cable from his dish direct to my box as he has a quad output lnb and is only using two of them.

I have set everything up and scanned for channels again..... All my sky sports channels are working perfect, but some channels, especially such as all the BBC channels are not working.

Do I need an updated transponder list or something????? any ideas how i can fix this guys???

Some of my movie channels are not working too.

Hi again guys, just thought i would let you know i've solved the problem, maybe others can learn from it too.

I ran a cable direct from my neighbours dish as he has a quad lnb and one port was free.

My neighbour knocked my door last night and said that none of his BBC or ITV channels were working properly either.

Turns out that when screwing in the cable to the lnb we had moved the lnb slightly. I used a signal meter to adjust the angle slightly and bingo!!!!!!! All good, installed Sgtflipflops channel list, and also scanned for channels, now i have over 1000 services!

Thanks for all your help guys, you have been great.

i have got same kinda problem sky dish with quad lnb , i am getting some channels okay but other like sky movies with only 20% on SNR, no one has messed with the dish or cables, gonna give the dish a shake and see what happens
dont understand why some channels i get good signal while bad on other ???

See guessing is not really useful when it comes to signals you really need a meter to sort these problems out.

you will get different signal strength off different transponders but all should be at an acceptable level from 28 EAst in the UK you dont say if it has always been a problem or just started.if the lnb is of the 40mm std type the skew may be out and that can have a big affect on some channels if the H/V polarity balance is out.
