    Patches question - 5400 CI+

Hello - I'm a Newbie to this. (Only found yesterday from a kind poster how to use the remote properly!!)

Looking through the 'Patch' sticky threads there are several rar and zip files posted. Also there are several posted in the Download Centre.

Is there a social convention as to which one is best or newest?

I have deduced that the date and a number/letter combo is used (e.g. "156p"). Is it basically newer is better? Or are there differences somehow?

Also there are some prefixes. Some files have none, others have "Magicpatch" and others "Phantompatch". Is there any significance to these?

    Thanks,
    Piers.

use the latest patch for your box it MUST be the exact one for your model, if you have the non super use patch 185p or if its the super use patch 147p.the latest patches will have any updated fixes.use the phantom patches from the download center they are the newer ones.you will also need to load the latest softcam as posted in the TM softcam section

done a patch... and a softcam... hmm

Well, it took a lot longer to get round to it all than I expected, but I've updated the phantompatch 185 and added the latest softcam from the softcams thread.

Just playing about looking and it does seem to have cleared some channels.

I might be a bit dumb... but upgrading the patch and the softcam... what have I actually achieved?

The latest patch will usualy give you the latest uptodate firmware.
plus the latest hacked provider , i don't know wich sat's you can recieve but the main availble hacks at the moment are bullsat on hellasat 39 east or canaal digitaal nl on 19.2 east these providers are not on the same patch so if you can recieve these sat's you will have to try a few patches as far back as 11-2010
