a null modem cable is best with tcc.....

you only need the serial to repair faulty box
you normally flash with TCC ,you need ip from box to put in TCC ,click on update only select flash and it goes in once done change password so you can connect with DCC only takes a few mins

I have a tm500.
I tried to upgrade the OS image by the Nemsis one.
It could not boot anymore. There is a loop with the einstein picture evry 4-5 minutes.
Is there any chance to recover the OS by a serial access? If so, could I update the OS image rigth with the TCC using the serial link?
