TM 5400 cI usb Super, bit of a help please?

Just got this box, been reading how to use it etc, before I try loading anything into it can I back up the settings that are in it in case I mess anything up? If so how do I do this? Also what is the difference between a .STB file, a .KEY file and .CNDF file? What are these files exactly? any help appreciated

stb.file would be the firmware the reciever is using key.file would be the softcam it's using,cndf file would be the channel list it's using if you are loading a new patch on the reciever it's wise to backup your channel list ( cndf file)latest softcams would be in the softcam section Softcam Keys and notepad will open a softcam once you have unzipped/rared it and will tell you what provider would be open if the key's are still in date
and latest patches are alway's found in Download center would be a stb.file
very little open with latest softcam (key.file)
