newbie looking to choose a reciever and set it up tm5400 super

    Hi all

my current setup which I have had for 2-3 years consists of a Globalstar 7100 usb, 1 meter motorised dish and an LNB

Today while watching a channel on the sat the reciever suddenly stopped and basically i am now thinking of getting a new reciever, looked around and I recon the tm5400 ci+usb super will do. however, I am open to suggestions as to what reciever I should go for.
main use will be for hotbird, arabsat, and any other sats that have good channels, will not (yet) be using a card to open channels and hence was looking for a reciever that might be able to open some by patching??

If I go for the tm5400super, is it something I can setup without the need of expert help (i.e. by reading the manual) bear in mind that my dish and LNB are good and the disec motor seems to function ok, so its a question of replacing recievers then setting the tm up.

    is that dooable??

    any help is appreciated.

(also as above any suggestions for a better reciever is welcomed)

ps i am not bothered by HD or HDMI out

    thanks

mtv1 thanks for a quick reply will read up now, want to ideally get this system up and running asap.....as i cannot live without my sat )

sorry to be a pain, but whatever reciever i get is it easy to just instal (i.e. replace the broken one) without proffessional installer...(just the reciever?

        thanks

also why do you recommend the dm500s over the tm5400ci super usb ?

Im a bit outdated when it comes to sats, last time i researched properly was when the chapparals and echostars were the top dogs...(and cost an arm and a leg) )

don't worry about clones some are better than the original most images are clone safe anyway get it from a local or recognized supplier

yeah the usb thing was important as i connect a Hard drive currently to my broken reciever and would prefer USB recording

like the sound of the DM but pvr is important to me !

lost for a moment now between these 2 recievers... ;(

very little left to open on just patches maybe go cs/cccam
around ?150 incl.delivery more options then on the tm5400
                          also usb recording

thanks for the replies guys, well this is what happened:

my mate heard I was having probs and got me intouch with afriend of his who bought me a DM500S

he tried to install it for me today but had trouble getting the reciever setup with the dish.
the dish was at hotbird (13 deg) and when the dreambox was in hotbird scanned fine and had plenty of channels, but then we could not track any other satellites, he also had a problem with the software i.e. was not unlocking any scrambles....I checked teh router cable and that was working........he has now taken it back home to test it on his set up.....Can anyone please help with setting up this reciver with the diseque dish??

ps when istalling we chose multiple sats on diseque motor, it seemed the only option for mutiple satalites

                            any help appreciated.

Can a mod please also if they can move this thread to Dreambox one if they can

                            Thanks
