Hi Guys, I tried GOMPLAYER, and although it played SD trp video, it was useless at playing HD. I tried several recordings , but without success, some stuttering badly, some just playing the audio!

I checked the Gom forum, and they had queries re trpHD file problems back as far as 2010, with no answers from admin to help.

          Back to the drawing board!!?

i don't bother much with editing the recordings but you could also try the "VideReDo TVSuite" some people use this not sure if it works with the Hd .trp files just google for it should be free

Thanks Thijs,I had d/loaded a trial copy to see, and with reservations, it works. Its best for me to recode to .ts( which is quick). Hd works fine, however , I have to try a large file( with several sections) to see whether it encodes them as a continuous video.

You cant do that with trial copy as it has limitations, so it would be lovely if someone here had tried it already;-))

              Thanks again

$100 to change it to a TS file?
Surely there must be a cheaper way to do it.

whatever you are trying to convert would it not just be easier to download it from any of the download sites cause the .trp files are normally very large files a movie could be easy 7-8 Gb
and the same movie downloaded in .avi would be around 700mb
this is what i think anyways you can download everything these days tv series the whole lot

Yeah, easier to download if u can find something u want and then theres the quality aspect of a 700mb file.
I might just get a pc card for any recording purposes. I did try the trial version of videoredo, and it was pretty simple to use, just a tad overpriced.

A little off topic but is related a little due to the 5402's recording format in .trp extension the Little brother the 5302 actually records to .ts format a more common format and well supported with free video transcoder software.

Just a thought if anyone was thinking of going for the 5402 and used recordings for backups the 5302 may be a bit more favourable.
