using kingofsat .ini files with 6000 series

Folks,

I'm been spending hours updating the transponders to my TM6800HD and have worn out a remote control as a result.

I know there are .ini files on the kingofsat website that are supposed to help with this process, but how do you upload them to the TM6800, please?

I use the Clarke Tech Editor Studio for editing the channels, but can see no way of updating the transponders with the files from kingofsat.

Thanks in advance if anyone can help or can suggest an easier way to update the transponder information.

why dont you just delete the dead transponders and the ones you dont use then just add the the TPs that are of use to you,there is no need to have every TP going installed in the box.

Hi dick b.
I wish it was that easy. The new transponders easily outnumber the dead ones by 3 to 1. Often a new satellite goes up in the same position as an existing one e.g. Nilesat 7 West and 300 new channels appear where you needed a 3m dish a couple of minths earlier.

This Technomate doesn't have a blind search capability so you have to add each transponder and for Hd, the pilot tone has to be correct or the receiver won't find it.

Fair comment to delete unwatched transponders, but you have to look at the channels in the first place to see if you want to keep them. Chicken and egg I suppose. Once in there, it requires more effort to remove them again - all using the remote control buttons.

The Clarke Tech Studio Editor (v3.17) should do the job by linking into the 'kingofsat' .ini files, but I can't work out how to do it. There is no manual and the CTSE download site is in Italian.

Technomate no longer seem to want to support this receiver and there are no software updates with the new satellites and transponders so you have to add them yourself. A factory reset of the TM6800HD now loads up many dead transponders and channels that are no longer in existance. To make matters worse, if this receiver changes satellites by going to a channel with no signal, then the motor won't find the satellite until you give it a valid channel with an incoming signal. Bit crap that, especially as the motor has the stored satellite position and perhaps why it was quickly replaced with the 'Super' version of the TM6800HD receiver.
Still a fair receiver with good HD picture capability so I want to keep it for now.

yeah I"v got one of these and still get on fine with it,if you use usals you can send it to any sat and find it in the motorised settings menu that you have enabled in "satellite setup",its just you need to scan and find an active TP with channels on for it not to revert to your previous sat on exit.and as you say thats easily done in the advanced search menu before sending the dish to the sat.

Well it's taken a while, but I think I've cracked the problem of updating the transponder list from kingofsat using the Clarke Tech Editor Studio.
This is for the TM6800HD, but may work for other receivers too.

This is what I did....

1). Firstly upgrade the CTES to version 3.17 (3.12 won't connect properly to kingofsat).

2). Check that you can use CTES to upload and download the channel settings from the TM6800HD over the serial port and safely make a backup of the settings as a .ndf file on your PC.

3). Now check if you can update the transponder list on a particular satellite, say 28E.

4). Go into Clarke Tech Editor Studio and select 'Options', then 'Settings' and highlight 'Internet Direct Connection'.

5). Select 'File' then 'New List'.

6). Select 'File' then 'Import'.

7). Highlight 'Web' then 'Import'.

8). Select 'No' to the message 'List Modified Save Changes'.

9). Click 'Import from Web'.

10). click satellite to download.

11). Select 'TV', 'Radio', 'Bouquet or 'All'.

12). Select 'Yes' to the message 'Add to Current List'

PC then connects to kingofsat and after 5-10 seconds, comes back with an updated transponder list and all the channels for 28E. This filecan then be sent to the receiver as normal.

Test complete.

Thanks for this info i have been struggling for days trying to enter all the transponders manually, complete within 5 minutes following this method

"satmad123" have just tried your instructions using a TM5400 super and it really works a treat,I loaded using a std loader but I think you can load direct from the editor. anybody using this be aware if you just do 1 sat and send it to your box the rest are wiped out so make sure you backup your list before playing with it.
