    Null Modem Cable
Null modem cables are used to transfer data between machines.
Occasionally used for data transfer between two PC's (use Windows Direct Cable Connection software or LapLink) but more commonly now, used to update Satellite/Cable Receivers from your PC (please check your instructions to make sure this is the correct cable). Suitable for Dreambox, Technomate, Humax, EchoStar, Manhattan and may more.

High quality cable with moulded ends, with thumb screw fasteners, for secure easy connecting.

Hi spiros. The cable i was trying to use had 9 pins and when i opened it it had 5 wires connected. As informed by various people i swap wires 2 and 3. I was also told that you only need pins 2 3 and 5. Looking at your connections i dont know why pins 6 7 and 8 have been swapped and where is pin 1?. Also bit confused with whether to swap wires or the pins themselves. I will probably buy another cable and try again in the next few days. Regards.

Hi. The NO SIGNAL problem can be due to a number of factors.
              1) Dish mis-aligned.
              2) Cables not connected properly.
              3) LNB not working.
              4) Channels no longer transmitting.
              5) Corrupt patch or incorrect patch.

Do you get NO SIGNAL on all channels??? Do you have a motor????

              Regards.

i am currently having the same problem.... i managed to find a pin out for the TM300D on the back page of the manual. i have made a cable up to match the pin out (i think not an easy pin out to follow) but still no luck as of yet, i going to try crossing the transmit and receive cables... i do know from dealing with RS 232 and RS485 they are a night mare to get right but once right will work with out problems.

with regards to the COM port number if the RS232 port is build into the PC 99.99% of the time the port number will be 1 however you can find the COM port number by right clicking on my computer going to properties then device manager. then if you scroll down there will be a heading ports if you expand this you will be able to see any COM ports on your computer even if you are using a USB to RS232/RS422/RS485 converter.

I had similar problems with my null cable and dreamup on not communicating. Eventually i was able to test the cable to ensure correct pin outs by doing a loopback test. Have a read here

The loopback test will hopefully put you in the right direction to determine if the problem is configuration of the serial port on the PC or incorrect pin configuration on the null cable.
