    HDMI and TM 5402 HD

I have just connected my HDMI cable to the TM, but for some reason it dows not connect through to the tv, does HDMI require to be activated on the receiver.

Funnily enough the time is located on the top rh. corner of the screen but no picture.

    Thanks Parque.

HDMI and TM 5402 HD Problem.

Still cannot get hdmi to work, just measured the cable I am using at present and it is almost 20 mtrs.

When I had the Spiderbox it worked fine.

I seem to be receiving some signal, as the clock is showing the time and there is a very small coloured section at the top the screen.

I tested the receiver with a smaller cable and worked fine.

I should also say that I have a join in the cable because of the length needed.

          Any other suggestions please.

On the TM 5402 HD there is not HDMI setting although there is a HDMI output.

          Many thanks again,

          Parque.

have the box nearer the tv is the simple answer , as I would think a hdmi cable has a finite limit and if any hdmi box cannot detect a passive device (the tv) on the end you wont get any signals over the cable , to connect it is simply not enough (unlike scart) , due to the fact you need a passive device detection too

              Ramjet, thanks for that.

The HDMI was working fine on my Spiderbox before it went faulty.

I here what you are saying, but due to the location of the TM I cannot move the receiver any nearer.

Would a higher quality HDMI help do you think? Or a cable without a connector?

frankly I find 20 metres to be a joke when the average cable is between 1 metre and 2 metres

I am surprised any box works at that length and cannot believe that you cannot move the box closer to the tv , 20 metres is 60 feet or more

think you need a reality check on this and move the box seeing as you say it works on a shorter cable

no I dont think it will work with a single cable and no join , or a better quality cable , cant believe the spiderbox did either

there is absolutely no reason for having it so far away from the tv

Hi Ramjet, many thanks for your opinion.

All my tv's are wall mounted and as I live in a Spanish house which has different construction to the UK, it is not easy to relocate the receiver any nearer to the tv's, bearing in mind I need an ethernet cable.

I will have a look at everything and see what can be done.

                  Thanks for your input,

                  Parque.

its certainly easier to extend an ethernet cable than hdmi cables , cheaper too

for starters you could buy a 20 or 30 metre ethernet cable from fleabay like I did , mine cost ?5 delivered in the uk

or you can fit cat5e cable and a cat 5e box at either end and use short ethernet cables which I did at my sons house

another option is to use a vonets wifi adapter and connect the tm wirelessly instead of using a long ethernet cable , as you only need a short ethernet cable for those , and power it from the usb like I did at a friends house

lastly , here in the uk we can use homeplugs from belkin and solwise and other manufaturers to extend the ethernet over the mains supply , am sure there must be something similar in spain ( or anywhere for that matter ) , and I have somebody else I know who uses this idea successfully too

my point being extend the ethernet or go for wifi , and use a 2 metre or 5 metre hdmi cable from the box to the tv

so its my opinion you have tackled your problem from the wrong angle

Just to add, you can use 2 cat 5e or cat 6 cables to make a hdmi connection. You can get a 30m run from these.
Set up is 2 cat 5/6 cable and 2 hdmi cat 5/6 extender boxes.
These can be bought with magic eyes inc as well if required.

I have to agree with both ramjet and manic01 on this one, Anything over 10 meters on HDMI needs some serious Kit due to what is needed to transmit a HD picture over that kind of lengh. if i ever get asked to do an install that requires over 10m for HDMI then i use Cat5/6 extenders which are powered either end with no loss of signal these are around ?70 here in the UK.

And as ramjet says get a vonets or a tenda for the ethernet side and use the Cat5 for your HDMI extender.

Thanks for all the good suggestions, I will have a look and see what is feasable.

Funnily enough when I was using the Spiderbox I had it connected with 2 x 10 mtre hdmi cable and it worked fine, but since changing to the TM I only get the time clock.

                          Strange.

                          Have a great New Year,

                          Parque.

                            TM 5402 HDMI Output

Only just noticed this but when I set TM 5402 up the AV setting was set to 1080p and I didnot get an HDMI output on my TV.
Change to !080i or any other setting and it was then fine.
