you can buy one and try it but generally it does not work

windows 7 is nothing like xp and in most versions of win7 a lot of the old dos commands and dos stuff was removed for stability

let me put it this way , I have about 3 usb adapters that work fine in xp , yet I have never managed to get them to work in vista or in win7 (mainly home premium but I have also tried win7 pro and ultimate)

so when dealing with cable boxes or routers or serial ports on satellite boxes I always use older pc desktops or towers or laptops that have a built in com port AND are running XP and never had a problem

its the old story , get the correct tools for the job if you want to actually do a job and not make a hash of it

and in my experience that is an xp pc or lappy with a proper serial port built in (like you had once upon a time)

        hi guys !

i never have any problems with usb to rs232 adapters!
works on every box ive tried !

i presume that this is what you are talking about ?

        if it is?
what usb to rs232 adapters are you using ?

        is it prolific adapter ?
        if it is ?
i have attached the correct drivers here that Will make it work !

it took me a while but its all about the win7 drivers nothing else !

( After installing the drivers and completing you must remove the adapter from usb and put it back in to complete the installation ! )
