    Strange Problem! TM-5400 CI+ USB Super +

    Hi guys / gals,

    Recently purchased a TM-5400 CI+ USB Super +

Seem to have developed a strange problem with only one of the frequencies on one of the satellites which started yesterday... Changing channels from one satellite to another (to a frequency which worked - Hotbird 6 13E 11.317 V 27500) now shows the receiver 'searching' (green bar going across twice) before showing a 'no or bad signal'.

Manually tuning a few degrees to the east brings back the channel but upon saving and going to another channel on another satellite, then coming back to the 'saved' frequency and it repeats the same problem!

Hope that makes sense! Help appreciated!

This is because you are using USALS. You need to switch to diseqc1.2 in the menu. USALS uses a pre calculated method of 'Automatic location'. i advise that you goto all satellites one by one and save the location so when you switch to Diseqc, all your positions will be the same as USALS + your manipulation of some positions.

ps- ive been out of this game for a few years so i may be incorrect. thanks

Thanks for the reply mate, I can confirm that I'm not using USALS and have been on Diseqc since purchase.. (in the motorized menu item at least)

The channel was definitely working before, we are only tuning into two satellites at the moment (Eutelsat W3 and Hotbird), I then added Astra to search for a new channel which is when the problem started.. It's like the alignment is out of wack slightly for that one frequency and it's not possible to 'undo' the change..

Your reasoning sounds correct, I'll have another look but I'm a relative newbie so please bear with me. I just want to fine tune that frequency and have it save correctly..!

it definitely sounds like you are on usals as jackpot has said as you cannot "store"sat positions by that method.
did you install the motor yourself? the motorised setting screen should look like pic 0773 if its set on diseqc 1.2 and pic 0774 if its on usals(apart from the position setting).I"v had a play with that frequency you quoted and could not replicate the fault no matter what I did its a really strong TP with amoung others "russia today"on it.
are you saying all other frequencies are ok on 13E and its just the one you cant get properly?

          Hey Dick,

It's definitely like pic 0773, I have never even tried USALS since I've had the box... The dish was installed by a professional and has been in place for a number of years, the TM-5400 is what is new.

And yes, it is just that one frequency which is not working, all the rest on 13E are fine! Again, it was working fine until I tried to add and scan another Satellite!

EDIT: Thanks guys, managed to fix it! I actually tried setting the motorised setting for that frequency to USALS and noticed that the position setting was 0* W / 51* N! I changed it to match your screenshot, (2.4* W / 53.7* N) saved and suddenly had a full signal!! This time it actually saved and now browsing between channels and back to this one works again, it's very odd that it doesn't save for Diseqc Motor 1.2 but at least it's resolved! Thanks for your time!

I"m glad your sorted but using those lat/long settings for usals and getting a result must be pure luck,
