    TM 5402HD Channels full

doing blind scan on TM5402HD (with motorized dish) stops half way saying channels are full, I thought this receiver have unlimited channels you can have?
I only have 8 sats populated on this receiver and there are many repeated channles like I have 5 copies of each sky sports hd on 28e, if I delete some of them once I do blind scan they will all come back. Any way to resolve this?

    cheers

don't do a blindscan would be the answer just scan the channels you want frequencies are on lyngsat or king of sat.
blindscan give you a load of rubbish you don't need or want.
go through your transponder list and delete all the dead transponders. and you should be okay again.
blindscan would realy only be used on sats you don't have any channels on yet.

Not sure why people blindscan to be honest, it's really for feed hunting only.

TM5402 has 10,000 channel memory, You have options which to scan in the menu to conserve space i would select TV only then either scan FTA on its own or Scrambled or Both.

That should leave some space for a few more channels

I deleted all radio channels they are just over 1000 channels do they count towards total channels or the 10000 is for tv channels only? Yes I won't do blind scan anymore, I didn't know there is 10000 channles limit hence I used blind scan just for ease.

          Thanks

I am afraid the 5402 only has a 10,000 memory so when scanning most people for go the Radio option and just scan for TV only which allows the full capacity for just TV channels.

But in blindscan you will still fill this up before your scan is complete.

Why not just scan the satellites you can receive only and by the active transponders and not by blindscan

Yes that is what I am going to do, scan TV only on the sats I can get and remove old transponders and won't blind scan again.

              Thanks

Have a search for Jetset's transponder spreadsheet, which interrogates kingofsat and some others for the latest transponder list and spits out a template ndf file to put into your Technomate. You and pick just the sats and beams you want, and ignore feeds etc. Very nice tool if you want to build a channel list from scratch.

Hi. I had the same problem. Then I found (for example) if you blind scan 10E then 9E you end up with 100s of duplicates because the sats are so close. I also found the same with 16E storing side bands from other sats. I supposidely got 1700 channels from 16E.
                  Regards bouncerdove
