    Technomate TM5400 CI+USB dead

    Hi,
I'm new to this forum and need help with my Technomate. I bought the unit on eBay and it has been working fine for the last few months. I downloaded the latest software from the Technomate site - TM5400CI_5600CI_134.stb and installed it onto the unit via a USB memory stick and this has killed the unit.
When it powers up, you get some horizontal lines on the display for a few seconds and then it goes blank.
I then tried to force loading it via an RS232 cable and the TM Downloader 1000/5000/6000 V1.8.8, this appeared to load OK, the unit's display shows the download and s/w update up to 100% and then the display goes blank.
I've tried to force the unit into setup mode by holding the rest button and powering up but again nothing happens.
The unit was patched originally and reading some of the other threads I should have done a factory reset.
    Can anyone help?

I managed to get the unit working again. I found an old version of software Technomate_TM5400CI_5600CI_107_13-12-2007.stb and this loaded OK. The strange thing is that when the loading is completed the message V1.34 Detected is displayed by the loader.
I did contact Technomate and was told to use TM5400CI_5600CI_134.stb off their web site. Could it be that the software is not compatible with this unit? My unit is a CI+ and was told to use software for the TM-5400 CI.

Hi. Do you have a super or non-super box?? The non-super have the USB at the front and the super the USB is at the back. If your receiver was already patched you should have loaded latest Phantom patch. As for the factory reset in your case it would have been pointless as this would not have stopped the box from loading a corrupt patch. As far as i am aware a factory reset does not affect latest patches or software it only resets the channels and frequencies. If i were you i would load the latest patch for your model from this forum using USB. The good thing about the TM5400 is that if you try to load an incorrect patch it will tell you ie you get an INCOMPATIBLE MODEL message. Whenever i download a patch i never do a factory reset as this messes up all my settings. Regards,

Thanks for your responose. I have the non-super box. I'm not that interested in patching the box, all I would like to do is have the latest Technmate software installed with the latest transponder settings.

It seems like there is a problem with the lastest software. I found a copy of V1.30, loaded this and the box is OK now. I've tried to reload the latest version a couple of times with no luck.

try this patch for a non-super and you can get all the uptodate transponders from FlySat Sat List or kingofsat.
as you are haveing problems do a factory reset before and after patching then re enter all your settings.

Hi. From what i gather the guy is not interested in the Phantom patches . I guess he just wants to watch the normal FTA channels. If your system has a fixed dish then just do the following:
                  a) Delete all transponders using the PID SEARCH option and yellow button to delete.
                  b) use the BLIND SCAN option to install up to date transponder list. Make sure it says TP SEARCHING in top left.
                  c) Edit your channel list as you like.
                  Take care.

All, thanks for your advice. Out of curiosity, I installed the latest patch. My box is connected to 3 LNBs -13?, 19? and 28.2?. Does anybody know what this patch does?
                    Regards.

Hi. Do you have 3 dishes?? For you the patch is good mainly for channels on 19.2 east ie it will open the following packages: AUSTRIASAT, CANALSAT, TNTSAT and ORF. It will also open some channels on 4.8 east and 39 east. Regards.

patch 190p was a viaccess card fix it may also open cn/digitaal with the latest softcam installed but no guarantees as patches vary as to what they open.

go to post#7 in this thread and down load "forced download and loader" But you will need an rs232 null modem lead connected to a computer for this to work.
