Hi. thijs thanks for reply. I want to change my box in about 4 weeks time but undecided on whats best - a TM5402 or the Blade box. Whats your opinion? Regards

Depends what you want to do....The main differences are that the blade box will auto upload your channel list and sort it into favourites, but the tm has an rf out so you can send the picture to another tv. The layout on the blade remote is supposed to be a little better but the tuner on the tm is very good. Hd picture quality on both are better than sky box. Recording and timeshift on the tm is faultless. The tm is about 20 quid cheaper. I have the tm and it is my first box which was setup in about 20 mins and I didn't have any problem adding my channel list by usb....In fact it suited me as I could load the channels in the order I wanted, this can be done with the blade also but defeats the purpose of using the auto channel update

Hi thanks for the reply. I would like to do the things i now do with my TM5400 SUPER which is motorized. Obviously i would like the HD channels which i dont get at the moment. I am not too concerned about the extra 20 quid or the channel list side of things. I am thinking more of what extras can either box give me. I do agree with you that from my experience the TM boxes are very good for the price, quality and ease of use. Regards.

Don't know about the blade but it has been reported that the tuner in the tm pisses all over the one in the vu ultimo for fringe sattelite reception and that came from a vu user so that might help you pick up more on motorised setup

Just like to add i have opened a TM5402 and have also seen a Blade opened up as well as the DrHD F15 which is the enthusiasts choice for weak/fringe reception.

So it might surprise you to learn they all have the same tuner on board due to the fact they are all produced in the same factory

Hi digicon. Thanks for comments. I must admit i do like a receiver which lets you find unknown channels. This is the reason why i do a lot of blind scans on satellites quite a lot. From a technical aspect, in your opinion, which is better the TM5402 or the Blade?? Regards.

support on the tm for thirth party patches is on a all time low
i would go for any box with a high support
a lot off signal loss reported on the 5402 with the latest patches or signal bad where they were good before
i know nothing about the Blade

Hi thijs thanks for comments. Very odd to hear about all these problems with the TM5402. I have always liked the TM's for their quality, reliability etc etc. I just have to read more about the Blades and make comparisons. Have a nice day.

i have to agree with this i can do more with my vu+ultimo more features and ect. but the quality of the HD picture on my TM's is better and reception is better on weaker signals then on my Vu+ , picture is good too but a bit crisper on the TM's

I have the TM5402 anongst others.
Tuner excellent.
7 day epg on 28.2e excellent.
PVR excellent.
Also has adult material built in if required using ethernet.
cccam/newcamd works 100%
Little niggles like when changing channels can now and again show low signal but then go back to normal.
All in all a very good box, never used blade so can't compare.
HD pic is excellent on 5402.
I can't find much wrong with it tbh.

Hi Manic. Thanks for the input as always. I get the impression that each receiver does somethings better than the other which makes it difficult to decide what to go for. I must admit that Manic's comments have restored some belief in the TM's. Is the Ethernet easy to set up and is it available on the Blade?

The Blade 7000, TM5402HD and DrHD F15 are all identical aprt from the menu structure, they all have a CCcam and Newcamd function as well as Biss and Cas menu for entering keys, I think its just the patches that are slightly different as well as the Blade and DrHD models both have an online Channel list downloader something which is sadly lacking in the TM5402.

To be perfectly honest out of the 3 the TM is probably the strongest as it still has some support going for it, I read the last pacth for the Blade totally screwed with the Glitching on CCcam and newcamd something which is rock solid on the TM5402, The DrHD f15 is more a Dx'ers box as it has a built in spectrum analyser for finding those elusive weak and fringe transponders. Problem is all support for this box is in Russian but it still supports everything the other 2 have.

It's about right. I paid 130 as a best offer on fleabay brand new a few weeks back that was with free next day delivery. I'll see if I can find another one on best offer from same guy.

Here you go mate Technomate TM-5402 HD CA USB PVR Satellite Receiver | eBay exact same listing as I had and he accepted best offer of 130 I put offer in sunday night, it was accepted monday morning and box was at my front door on tuesday
