Hi romstav. Yes i live in south London( Clapham Common). I think for Amos and Nilesat we need to buy a dish from NASA. Problem is that our motors can only handle dishes up to 1.2 metre. Are your satellites up to date with current frequencies and channels?? If not you can use the BLIND SEARCH option to update them. If you need help in doing blind searches let us know.

    Regards.

Just give him your up to date BLIND SCAN channel list.
      That will sort him out.

Hi Manic. Problem is my channel list is very short as i always get rid of so many channel. I always think its better that people do they own scan and edit channels as they wish. Thanks for advice anyway. Catch you later as i am off to fix a motor problem for someone. Dont know about you but i find it very annoying when you have set up a system for somebody and then they mess about with the menus and everything goes wrong.
        Take care.

Depending on receiver just put image/lists back on.
The TM5402 lets you take. a stb image on usb.
          Or password the menus.

Hi Manic. Problem with putting password on menus is not a good idea as i may forget them...Anyway problem was caused by blokes wife accidently snapping the cable while hoovering thus causing the motor to stop working and therefore no channels working. There is never a dull moment with satellites.

              Take care.

Snapping a cable while hoovering , thats a new one and almost impossible I should imagine.
Maybe pull the f connector off at best.

Yep strange but true. She snapped the cable near the F connector end and broke the copper wire. Anyway i told the bloke that in future he should do the hoovering. You should know that nothing is impossible in the world of satellites.

                  Regards.

                    Hi Nutsandbolts,
is any particular instructions to do "blind searches" to update everything?
If there is one could you please point me in right direction?
                    Thank you

your better off using "king of sat","flysat","lyngsat" to check the transponders you want are in your box and adding them manually if not.I would not advise using blind scan on a reciever that you use for actually watching TV you will end up with too much junk to delete.

Hi. Nothing wrong with blind scans. I have done hundreds of them and never had a problem. I think the problem is that some people dont know the difference between a BLIND SCAN and a BLIND BAT. Why waste time looking at Lyngsat and entering TP's manually when the blind scan will do it for you????

                              Take care.

Hi romstav. Blind scan is KING in my opinion. The way i do them is as follows as you have a motorized system like me:

                                1) Save your current channel list to USB - this is in case you have problems and need to go back. To save channel list do the following:
                                a) Insert USB stick. Press green button on remote for USB menu. Enter pin 0000.
                                b) Take option DATA TRANSFER. Enter pin 0000.
                                c) In FILE LIST display press green button on remote for CHANNEL LIST UPLOAD. This will create a CNDF file which you can use later to restore if required.

                                2) Start from any satellite that you are able to pick up for example HOTBIRD 13 east. Make sure it is correct satellite. At this point i would set motor to OFF. This is to stop the dish from moving in case you accidently switch receiver off during the scans.

                                3) On HOTBIRD delete ALL TP's for this satellite. This will clear out the good and bad TP's. To delete TP's if you dont know how to do it is as follows:
                                a) Select MENU - INSTALLATION - PID SEARCH.
                                b) Move to second line for TRANSPONDERS.
                                c) Use yellow button to delete TP. Delete all the TP's until you see display 00.000GHZ. Now exit out of PID SEARCH menu.

                                4) Now take option BLIND SEARCH. Make sure correct satellite ie HOTBIRD is highlighted. Now press either the left or right VOL button on remote to go to the PRESS OK option.
Now press OK to start the blind scan process.

                                5) In blind scan display you should see the satellite name and TP SEARCHING on top left. You should also see a display of a satellite sending signals to a dish. This indicates that the scan has started. It may take a couple of minutes before you see any activity. It will list any TP it finds and then tune in the channels after the TP search has completed. The scan will always look for VERTICAL TP's first and then the HORIZONTAL ones.

                                6) When scan has completed it will have updated HOTBIRD with valid TP's and channels. You can now sort out the channels in the way that you like. Very easy and simple dont you think??

                                7) When you are happy with HOTBIRD then set motor setting back to USALS or DISEQC depending on what you were using. Now send dish to another satellite and repeat the process. Do this until all available satellites have been scanned. You should end up with an up to date TP and channel list for all the satellites. I would do another save of the channel list when all is completed as a safeguard. Hope this all makes sense as i think it is not to complicated. Any queries etc let us know.

                                Happy scanning.
