A few questions regarding foreign channels which I could get?

    Well here goes
    total newbie

Well I have had Technomate 500 super for a few years now but only one on satellite which is 28.2e and I also have the sports movies channels on videoguard.

As I have seen to get foreign channels you need a motorised dish blah blah blah but will I only get free to air channels as I havent got a card for the foreign channels. But then I discoverd some satellites such as 4.8e, 13.0e are also videoguard so will channels like Sky Italia work if I do the setup or only fta

Really hope I can get an answer and get it sorted before the start of the new season

    thanks guys!

fta only if you dont have a valid subscription

and no a 28e sub doesnt get you channels on other satellites

its a sly uk sub, so only valid for sly uk

doesnt get you espn sport, or bt sports , or setanta sports for a start

also does not get you any channels from foreign broadcasters like sly germany or sly italia or the scandinavian ones you asked about (viasat)

I dont remember any fta channels with EPL on them last year , scrambled ones yes , but little or nothing free here in the uk

so if you had a nova sub, a sly italia sub , a sly germany sub , a viasat sub , and all the rest you may have a chance, but you have to have deep pockets too

try reading this thread http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums...k-offs-280628/ as it lists all the sats and broadcasters that charge subs for matches

some of those foreign broadcasters changed to internet based streaming for their home subscribers in order to stop people watching by satellite

I think you will find it hard to find an fta channel in that list that you can watch here in the uk, the majority if not all will be scrambled

that is one reason that thread is so long, and contains so many posts

but free EPL is like fools gold, pie in the sky, pigs may fly before you get fta EPL, especially from autumn 2013 onwards

The free channels that showed the EPL 3pm games where very hit and miss last season we had the following channels show free to air EPL 3pm, but as with everything there are pros and cons

42? east Channel idman TV ( Cannot be received in the UK due to footprint )

7.0? east Channel GRTS ( needs at least 90cm dish to factor in rain margin )

There where also a couple on 36? east from Russia showing them again not in the footprint for the UK, you also have to remember that your not guaranteed what game your going to be seeing on these free channels apart from looking at liveonsat before the game is going to start and then it could be pulled before kick off.

GRTS on 7.0? east seemed to have one at least every other week, Quality was poor none the less.

thanks, reading your post reminded me of what had "gone on" and I remember the 7e offering was very poor quality, worse than streaming from what I can remember

I also remember not picking others up here in the uk after they were posted on forums so I would say you have backed up my thoughts on the matter as regards fta channels on "foreign" satellites

I find it strange that the OP believes his one subscription to one broadcaster located at 28.2e should give him access to all the other broadcasters when we all know its not true. naievity I think

anyway, that thread I linked to has a good ongoing debate about what may be possible when the new season starts, and I would say most if not all of those listed are scrambled

its also worth pointing out to the OP that saturday 3pm EPL kickoffs are banned here in england at least and have been for 21 years so his sly sports sub does not and never will get those games. the espn matches also have the same restriction, but not setanta for only eire subscribers with an eire address

GRTS on 7e had English audio pic was sometimes good sometimes poor.
ORTM 7e also showed game without English audio.
22w also had game with poor pic.

PLTV excellent pic and English audio 10e Off/On and currently on.

If you mean channels for the EPL then have a look at 39? east especially Novasport and Diema these are currently open as well as a few others scattered about around the satellite ARC. Please remeber that nothing on the KEY side is guaranteed it could stop at any minute.
