firstly the box you are using is very old but if you just want mpeg-2/dvbs fta channels it will suffice. you really need to set your motor to zero and set the correct lat for your area(rough guess is 53.5n). you now will need to add a manual transponder on your box at intelsat/thor at 0.8/1west in the menu,s.. use 11.862.h.28000.. 7/8. get the signal bar on screen then move the motor bracket left and right on the wall mount and the dish elevation up and down untill you get a signal quality of about 70/75%. when you have done this using diseqc 1.2 move the dish is fine movements a couple of steps west to peak the signal to about 90%. nip the nuts up and do a scan on 1 west and you should pick up bbc world fta and a few others on 11.862. once you have done this then you need to add/select a active transponder on hotbird(flysat will help you with this) and then move the dish east with the remote untill you find hotbird. the box you have isnt ideal and has no support, no usals and the data-base of txp,s and frequencies is way out of date. it is possible but you need to read the guides on here and the web on how to install a motorised dish and take your time but you will get there in the end with a great deal of patience. regards mdt

id say a tm5402hd as they are easy to set up will usals and have good support. you should be able to get a signal using the box you have although it will take a bit longer due to the manual input needed. the the motor/dish/lnb/cable and wall mount arent set up correctly you wont get a signal using any stb

        checklist.
1, is the wall mount 100% plumb on all 4 sides?
        2. is the lat on the motor correct?(use satsig to find yours)
        3. do you have a active txp for 1 west in your box(use flysat for this)
        4. set your dish elevation at a starting point of about 25 degrees
        5. is the motor set to zero?
        6. is the dish bracket central on the motor spiggot?
        7. are the brackets on the dish and the motor square/even?
        8. check your cable and f-connectors are on ok with no shorts

you must realise that it only takes very small ajustments on the motor bracket dish elevation as mm here on earth equates to miles in space and it can take a great deal of patience and time to get it right without a proffessional field meter/spectrum analyser.

just triple check all the components and keep trying as it will work if set up correctly if no parts are faulty. regards mdt

did the installer not check the box was working or has it stopped working since? do you not have a s*y dish to check the box is ok... if it is you will know that the motor is out/faulty. openbox is cheap and cheerfull but has its merits and a dreambox is much better but requires alot of work to set up. regards mdt

Depends on your budget if your just looking at using a box with a fixed dish on 28.2? east then why not have a look in the openbox forum at the Skybox F3, the 5402HD is a great box but alittle over kill for just a fixed dish
