What would you want in the next firmware update?

Just wondering if we could start to make up a wish list of the things/ items/ issues we would like TM to address with our various boxes in updates.

Might be interesting to see what we come up with and if TM pay any attention!

So to get the ball rolling on my 6900 HD Combie

    1) Better resolution on the display graphics,
    2) A FULLY populated epg on 28E,
    3) The ability to scroll through the epg a page at a time, not just channel by channel,
    4) Clock time taken from a channel time signal and not a manual type in,

    Over to everybody else now.

    John

PS. sure I'll come up with more then I REALLY think about it

I've heard a lot of good things about their support, which was one of the reasons why I bought a TM in the first place.

What I was thinking of trying to do was to produce a "top ten" wish of items which we could forward to support, with the explanation that this came from the collective thoughts of the forum. Rather than using it as a bat, more of a carrot as things their customers would like addressed/ looked at.

I'm sure that they would like to know collective thoughts, rather than a slow drip of emails coming in, covering the same few issues.

            Yes good idea.

I had a Nokia 9600 with the 3rd party Dr. Overflow DVB2000 software and it was excellent. Some of the things from this are below. I'd like to see: -

            * 7-day EPG for at least Freesat.

            * A full character set for renaming the channels (like the French and Russian characters). It's far too limited. It doesn't even have the ' character.

            * The character input can also act like a phone. 2 = ABC, 3 = DEF, delete etc rather than scroll and move through the characters.

            * The ability to have the frequency and SR displayed in the OSD rather than the channel name, if you wish.

            * Have other values available in the blind scan. It's fixed to 10700 to 12750. Yes you can enter them manually but why not allow for the user to store some other values (say 10950 to 11190) and then be able to scroll l-to-r to select these. Keep the manual function too of course.

            * Advanced Search. Transponder. All the transponders arranaged in order of value - low to hi - automatically.

            * The blind scan returns to the menu once it's finished. If you have been away you don't know what it has found. Don't have it return to the menu. Make the user press OK so they can at least see what was found first.

            * 4:4:2

            * A graphic interpretation of the signal. A visual blind scan. Something to show if there's any spikes. It would build in real-time as it scanned. So it would show the signal from 10950 to 11190 in a graph if you entered this value.

            * Sit and wait blind scan. You enter 12550 and it will constantly scan until it detects something. It can also pull in stuff from nearby if nothing is at 12550. So it will detect that something is found, you press a key ("0") and then it will show that it was actually 12580 has been found. You can then watch this first before deciding to store.

            * PIP. Picture-in-Picture. Display another small picture on top of another full picture all from a shared transponder if it's possible.

Good that we are getting some thoughts in

From the comments so far, lets concentrate on the epg and the osd of it.

              I think we would like,

              1) A fully populated guide for 7 days for at least Freesat, with s*y as a bonus.

              2) More channels displayed at a time.
Can I suggest here that the program info at the top (on my 6900 at least) is removed to provide more space with a button press to display it on demand.

              3) A series link for repeat programs.

              4) Clash detector with suggestions for alternative program times/ channels

              5) The ability to scroll through it page by page.

              6) Increased resolution of the epg display, preferably to HD were possible.

              7) The ability to adjust the colours or at least a series of different colour setups to choose from.

              Anything else?
