    Load a channel list.
Make sure your motor is aligned correctly and dish is big enough.

the NDF channel file should load ok on your box and covers a range of sats from 53 East to 30 West(no HD channels)
the CNDF channel file(20120930-121306) has HD channels on and has the same range of sats but may/may not load(it will just fail to write if it wont)
theres also a guide to set up a motor on usals.

Hi. I think your friend is incorrect. Your problem is your dish is too high for the east satellites like TURKSAT(42 east) and HELLASAT(39 east) and too low for the west satellites like THOR( 1 west) etc. Try to raise the motor tail elevation a bit to get the west satellites and then adjust the dish angles for the east satellites. Make sure you have an up to date channel list for the satellites and correct dish size for the satellites you wish to pick up.
          Regards.
