Installing Official Firmware on a patched TM-5402

sorry if this have been discussed before,I wasn't able to find my answer.

I've loaded the Phantom patch and add-on patch on my TM-5402,but later realised this can void the warranty,is this correct?
can I install the official firmware from Technomate over my patched machine? and if I do do are there going to be any sign or indication that I had previously installed the un-official firmware on my machine?

Hi. You will need official patch 117p from TM website. Also make sure you have not broken the seal at the bottom or opened the box up as this may also invalidate your warranty. You are asking a rare but valid question do you have a problem with your box?? To be honest from my experiences with a couple of TM5400 in the past TM were very helpful in resolving issues even though i told them that the boxes had been patched - lets be honest TM know that patching goes on. They dont like you tampering too much with the boxes or worse still spilling liquids into the boxes.

    Regards

      Thanks for your reply,
the box is brand new,and only "used" few hours.the warranty label is intact.didn't even use the provided battery/HDMI.I've only loaded few patches.
I'm disappointed with this receiver mainly due to the high pitched noise the fan produces,it's really annoying to the point that I feel almost nauseous.it's not "loud" but a high pitched whining sort of noise.I'm aware that the fan can be switched off, however I don't like the idea, this is not a cheap box and I cannot accept such problems.therefore I was thinking about returning the box and will go after a different brand.I've bought the box from a third party seller and I be leave they won't accept returns if unofficial laches are "found" to be installed.
so I'm hoping by loading the latest official firmware, there will be no sign of the phantom patch and add on.

Hi. Totally agree with you about the fan noise . Also these boxes have an issue with the blind scan facility - they tend to miss some channels when scanning, even remote control is not very user friendly. Not very impressed with this box preferred the old TM5400 super. Good luck with your refund and let us know what box you get.

        Regards.

Hi. Sorry you need patch 127 and not 117 from TM website. Also if you have problems getting a refund let us know how much you want as i have customers looking for HD receivers.

          Regards.

the TM5402HD is the most popular closed source stb available today with an excellent tuner and good 3rd party support. the fan shouldnt be making a high pitched whine and seems to be faulty. these boxs are easy to use and can be set up in 10 mins out of the box for fta, softcam and b*** and unless you go E2 i cant see what else you could go for personally. send or take the box back after you have put official firmware back on it(FW-101 for the M1 or FW-127 for the M2) and dont mention 3rd party firmware, regards mdt

Remove all your details from the addon screen before you Flash original firmware. You won't be able to see the addon when the original firmware is being used but the first person to put a phantom patch on will not need to add the addon again it will appear automatically again including all the details that were previously on there if they are not removed first. At least that's what happens on my m1 5402

Hi. Sorry mdt but all the TM5402's have this noisy fan problem and they cant all be faulty... Dont know about the MK2 though. Also in case you dont know there is a new 136 patch for the 5402 Mk1 which apparently came out today .

                Regards.

Hi, I hope i am not hijacking a thread here? i bought a Mk1 5402 today but was not aware i had to flash the box to use the ip button on the remote? is this true? I have previously been using an openbox which was user friendly but the memory was no good. I have got my box tracking but am struggling to enter some information with the ip button...can you tell me where i am going wrong? thanks

Hi. basically you need to have the following:
                        1) Latest patch - this will create a CAS/BISS menu to enable you to copy softcam keys or enter them manually when they become available.
                        2) ADDON file - this will enable you to connect to the internet for YOUTUBE , internet radio etc.

The IP function is a sensitive subject on forums so you will need to google it for more help.

Glad to hear that you are happy with your fan.

                        Regards.

ok thanks, i thought it would be a sensitive subject thats why i asked in a subtlle way i will get patching the box now, i used to have a 1500+ super years ago so it should start coming back when i give it a go. never did get my head arround biss keys i will have to swat up on that.

                          Thanks for your help

For all the members asking about the Fan on the 5402 you do realise you can switch this off permanently in the menu, As long as your receiver is in a well ventilated space then no need for the fan. A few friends of mine have had these for 2-3 years respectively with the Fans switched off and they are still working as well today as when new.

1 more fact the other korean clones of this receiver which are identical in every way dont even have fans included in the design the 2 in question are the Blade 7000 and the Dr HD F15/D15

I'm aware that fan can be turned off, that't the first thing I did when I noticed that horrible high pitched noise.
however I just don't feel good about disabling a feature of a brand new box just because it has issue and "live with it".there are people with boxes that does not have this noise issue.
also I've been told that Technomate offers fan replacement for people who are willing to replace the fan themselves, this means that the fan noise is indeed a fault which can be corrected by replacing the fan.
