Technomate tm 5400 Ci + USB set up help, please help! a new person.

Please for the love of all that is out there someone help me,
I'm going round the bend up and down my ladder and getting nowhere for over 4 weekends.

i have purchased a tm 5400 Ci with USB set top box, I know it works as I've been watching channels connected to a old 60cm dish.
In my thirst for more channels I purchased a 97cm technomate solid dish,a techno mate tm 2600 super motor and a technomate single lmb.
I looked at all the instructions and I must be doing something so wrong.
here's what iv done so far.
mounted the L bracket on the back of my house next to other dish with enough room for the 97cm dish to move.
looked at a website to find my latitude ....postcode bn176qe and it returns 50.818954 and 0.525061 So after doing what the website said to shorten them down to 50.8 and 0.5 , I wrote the numbers down, then set the motor and dish as per the motor instruction table.
Latitude is 50 so the dish elevation is 40 and dish is 22.7.
I then set the set top box in motorized setting to the Astra 2 satilite and the position setting of 0.5 w / 50.8 and the motor moves in the wrong direction.
so to make sure it worked I undone the bolts and turned it with a satilite finder to tune in to Astra and had a good signal, but when I want use the usals self moving/ finding it all goes wrong.
im so out of my depth. Please some help.
    many thanks, kind regards Sean.

firstly set your motor lat to 50 and tighten it up then dont ajust it again. now set the dish elevation to 25 degree,s and tighten it so you can adjust it with the spanner. now in the 5400 receiver put in the usals menu 50.00N 00.50W, now select THOR 5/6- INTELSAT [email protected]/1.0WEST and tell the dish to move. when its stopped moving the select a active transponder from the menu (12.718.V.18400.3/4) and leave the signal strength/quality bar on screen. now on the ladder check that the skew is set to zero on the lnb(horizontal) and then start moving the entire thing on the L bracket slowly left/right until you find a signal. if you dont the adjust the dish elevation upwards slightly and repeat the process. once your settings are input correctly on the receiver and motor lat its just a case of being patient and taking your time untill you find the satellite. once you find 1 west try the other transponders and peak for the best signal. send the dish to 45e and 45w to make sure its tracking correctly. you can then over the next few weekends fine tune the system to squeeze every drop of signal from the system and the think about patching your box to use softcam/biss keys to give you a selection of encrypted channels for free, regards mdt

I did as you mentioned and I have placed my dish wrong as I won't slew round past Astra 28.2 as Thor 5/6 is much more west than Astra, I'm such a numpty as it means new cable, and floor boards up in one of my kids rooms. From Astra 28.2 back east is fine but the other way the dish will hit the wall.
Many thanks for the quick reply.kind regards.

You wont go wrong with MDTs" advice and here is another guide that may help. The dish needs to be on a wall that is as south facing as possible to get the most satellites but there is not much on the westerly side of interest(except say 30W) so 0.8W to 39E should be enough. If you cannot find a suitable wall position consider an over the gutter mount or easier a back garden pole mount.
to avoid lifting floorboards again put a proper joint in the cable 2 F-plugs and a joining nipple and water proofed if outside, you wont lose enough signal to worry about.
