Technomate 5402 HD M2 no optical sound

    Hi folks,

We have the above mentioned box connected to a Philips HD 42in LCD TV via HDMI. It is also connected to a Samsung 5.1 Surround sound system via the optical connection. We have enabled the SP/DIF option on the Technomate but still have no sound.

The Sky HD box that was previously plugged in all worked fine via the optical sound, so I can't see the TV or 5.1 being the issue.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks.

Have you also tried cycling through the Audio options on the remote for the channel you are on selecting an AC3 audio output one

If you have box plugged directly into surround sound it isn't touching the tv so that was never in the equation. Do you have an optical out on the tv. If so just plug the box into tv via hdmi then the tv into the surround sound that way you will get surround sound from standard tv channel as well as when watching through tm. If you have both plugged into surround via optical audio that may be your conflict

Hi folks, thanks for the replies so far...

I have tried the different audio settings per channel yeah, still no joy.

There's non optical out on the TV so I can't try routing the sound that way unfortunately.

Looking at the optical cable at the amp end there isn't a light no. Think this might be an issue with the optical on the TM then?!

Is there a way to route everything through the existing $ky HD box to get surround etc?

any light from tm port if using a match to open the trap door? if not bad port,on tv does it have digital out like a single phono socket and on the amp digital in then a cable run from either will give 5-1

Looks like a bad port I think as there is no light. I've hooked it up via the phono ports at the moment. Not ideal but it works.

              Thanks for the ideas all!
