Techomate TM-1500CI+ and Italian Channels Hotbird

    Hi
My dad has a Techomate TM-1500CI+ with Darkman 2.25p (May 03 2007) software.

I understand that Rai Uno and the mediaset channels scramble certain films and sports events (e.g. football).

Having Googled around, I understand that I have to purchase a Tivusat receiver and card, or Tivusat Card and CAM to use with my existing receiver.

Before we spend ?200 on new kit, does anyone know if we can use my Technomate TM-1500CI+ to descramble Nagravision scrambled channels?

Is it just a matter of patching the box with new version of Darkman and uploading recent softcam?

Any help would be great to point me in the right direction. cheers

Hi.It would be cheaper to get a Tivusat box in Italy assuming you have an address and fiscal code registered in italy and also pay your RAI tv licence. If not get a relative to get one for you assuming that they also comply with the conditions. Regarding the TM1500 box if you were able to watch the GLOBO TV channel (which used the Nagravision 2 codes) then it should be ok for Tivusat. I know that TM5400 receivers work ok with Tivusat cards as some of my relatives use it. Hope this helps you.

Hi , thanks for your reply..

Great tip! will try and pick one up in Italy if we go on holiday.

For the moment , i guess you cannot use a softcam to decrypt nagravision 2 ? miss the old Dbox 2 days searching around for latest keys ...

hi If you buy one in Italy dont forget that you must activate the card in Italy before you bring it back. Its illegal to activate it outside Italy. You cannot use a softcam for Tivusat as its using Nagra 3 and not Nagra 2. The good old days when softcams use to open up tons of channels everywhere have long gone.

        Regards

Well this might be true but I bought mine in Italy and activated via internet without any problem here in the UK (of course with legit details, address, codice fiscale etcetc) on my technomate 5400
