also look last week when i was trying to set my tm600 up i didnt get much help apart from yourself

First post without trying to hijack the thread.

The question...
Are the TM500/TM600 clones of a Dreambox 500S?

The background...
My dads existing setup (1.2m dish + Technomate 1500ci+) has experienced a problem (possible motor death) and has arranged for his sat guy to come out sometime next week and see what's wrong.

During the phone call he mentioned to my father a new box that does something which this forum bans discussions on (cs). I asked what box (so I could check it out online before my dad made a decision to upgrade) and was told that it was a Technomate box/clone of the Dreambox 500S with PVR functions.

I'm not into the motorised sat scene other than to upgrade/flash the 1500ci+ and to update the Turkish TV channels when things move. I'm now trying to prep myself to what this new box may be and how to update/upgrade and maintain it.

TM500/600 are basically IT gate boxes. They are not DM5oo/600 clones physically.

OK the stupid post office seems to have messed up meaning that i have to wait for my item now. They didnt even knock on our door, nor did they post a "while you were out slip" which apparently they did on the net tracking service.
