    TM5402 m3 - TF! signal on 5W

I originally (wrongly) posted this on the introduction page but who would look there for a query like this.

I thought i knew a little about satellite but also knew i didn't know much. Just upgraded from TM 1500 CI+ to the TM 5402 M3.

I cannot quite get my head around why the sat receiver won't pick up the 'clear' 'super beam' TF1 HD on 5 degrees West. I've got a motorised dish - pick up a bundle of channels on the satellite with a 97% strength but no TF1 (or RAI) even though the super beam footprint is over the UK. Keying in the transponder (etc) just shows zero signal. At least encoded channels show a signal strength even if you cannot watch the channel. Anybody with any explanation?

Hi Are you sure you are on 5west - RAI is on Hotbird 13 east and Astra 19.2 east as well as loads of French channels. Not at home at the moment but can check for you later. On 5 west you should get channels like TMC in the clear etc.

    Regards

You wont be able to pick up the Rai sports channels as they are on a Multstream ACM/VCM transponder something which the 5402HD M3 cannot display due to hardware restrictions

Thanks to you both for replying. In answer to Nutsandbolts - definitely on 5W and no problem in picking up RAI on 13E. I was just puzzled as to why I could get a signal on everything (even if i couldn't view the encoded channels) on 5W but couldn't get even a blip of a (FTA) signal for TF1 transmitting on a super beam covering the UK. Now that, I have to say, is a pretty nifty way of blocking unwanted viewers! Must have been a few good brain hours gone into working out how to make it SO exclusive. But both of your replies are much appreciated. Best regards. Floyl

TF1 is opening on a tm linux box so it has to be a tm 5402 problem not the
channel provider i can get a good signal from all the channels on 5w.
