couple of questions

hi everyone
im new to all this and im thinking of getting a technomate or similar box, but im in two minds, ive read that there are problems with losing channels because of key changes every day, does that mean you lose all channels or just the odd one?
do you need a card with these boxes?
which is the best satellite to point the dish at, am i ok leaving it pointed at the sky/freesat satellite?
any advice would be great

If you go down the standard technomate route you would be best motorizing it you can then get a lot of FTA channels if nothing else.if you patch the box and load the latest keys you will at the moment be able to open a lot of channels in english on Thor @ 1W, but as you are aware keys go out of date fairly quickly and you will lose all the encrypted channels then you must install the latest ones by softcam or manually.
if you get a TM with a multicam slot you can if wanted buy various foreign cards including XXX ones.
leaving the dish on 28.2E will only get you the FTA channels nothing else can be opened on that sat.

A lot of people are now going down the linux route and you can get plenty of advice on this site about tm600s and dreamboxes but they dont interest me.

hi dick thanks for the reply, ive been to filey for the weekend so only just had chance to reply.
ill have to look at what channels i can get on thor,
im not bothered about buying cards, and i assume the linux route is through the pc so im not bothered about that either.
(i was beginning to think i was invisible on here, i even joined another site and downloaded some stuff)
ill carry on reading about this stuff but might ask more questions, if you wouldnt mind keeping an eye out.
