If you have a clear view of the southern skies you should be able to get from 42East to 30West with ease and raising the dish wont help. is your mounting pole 100% plumb as it must be to travel the arc properly.
the motor scale needs to be set to your site latitude and you site latitude/longitude put into your box.
are you getting the sats east of 12.5W ok? mind you there is not much on the western sats till hispersat .
are you getting Thor at 1West ok.
if you have to disturb the motor you may have to re-set the dish angle slightly and the whole motor/dish will need to be turned left/right to retune your target sat.

    are on usals or 1.2

if the house is more than 20 feet away you should'nt have a problem my dish is on the side of the house below the gutters and the house next to me is about 20 feet away and i get from 45e to 30w. if you re-sight the dish it will need re-setting to stay on the line of the arc and also remember that a one mtr dish high up you could have a problem with wind moving the dish on the pole and at times loose all signals

did you check your mount is 100% upright.most diseqc motors go from about 70 degrees E/W and support usals which is the easiest way of sat location.
what type of motor do you have?
