new TM600

Hi All

Just got my first ever Sat Box - TM-600 - I know nowt about Satellite, but OK with Linux hence my choice of the TM. Before I start messing around with new images and stuff I want to see what it will do out of the box.

I hooked it up to a dish that the previous guy ran his Sky box from, but all I can get is a handful of BBC, ITV and SKY channels. Can anybody advise what I have missed out in the initial setup?

Depends what you mean,,,,, does the channels appear but dont open?,,,
you will only get FTA channels on 28.2 ( the direction a sky dish points )

Thanks for a fast response, I hope thihs makes sense:

In the Satellite Configuration it shows what seems to be 19.2
Astra1E/1F/1G/1H/1KR/2C direct connect.

In Satellite Search it shows a valid transponder and when I do search it shows the pay Sky channels as new.

After a scan this morning I can see 3 lines
23 new services
'provider' services ( BSKYB )
52 services (these are BBC, ITV and SKY)

If I am getting 19.2 then shouldn't there be loads more that I can pick up either FTA or Pay even though I won't be able to decode the Pay ones? I was expecting hundreds to be detected on the ASTRAs at 19.2 or doesn't it work that way.

your dish is facing at sky. You need to have a motorised dish or a seperate dish to receive other satellites.

your sky dish wont be pointing at 19.2e,,,, it will be pointing it at 28.2e.
go into satellite configuration and change to eurobird28.2, and rescan,,,,
worth factory reseting first and starting again,, this time in satellite configuration set the satellite as 28.2

again tho, you will on clear the FTA channels, nice sticky about this

Started again, now OK

I factory reset it then started again from scratch. This time I didn't accept the default of 19.2 but selected the Sat at 28.2 and things went as I expected and found about 500 services.

Unless you ger motorised you wont get any fun on 28.2e alone.

On the next sunny day I'll try to move it to 13E, unless there is something better that I can pick up with a sky dish. This will then have to do till someone gets me motorised for a birthday present. A bigger and motorised dish would seem to be the best bet but at the moment I'm only making use of what's there.
I will take any recommendations for a decent, not too expensive motorised dish. Thanks

Nothing on 13e open either except tv globo (Portuguese language)

13,19,28 all black,,, these are probably only ones you can hit with a sky minidish.... as fearona says to exception of mabie one or two portugese channels that probably you wont be interested in anyway.

I CANT GET ITV & BBC.FILM4 CHANNELS ON MY TM6900.I GOT MOTORISED DISH 1.1 M.
ALL OTHER SATELLITE I MANAGE TI GET CORRECTLEY.
STRUGLING WITH ASTRA 19,28.2,.......ECT
