Technomate 6900 HD combo super Hard disks & Fav mapping

Hi, new to the forum. Cheers, I like. I have searched the threads for info (as I suspect you would advise anyone to do before posting) but have not really found what i need to know so I'm wondering if people could clear a few things up for me. When I got my 6900 I thought I could put an internal laptop Hard disc inside. Looking at the manual there is no info about this. Did I mis-read the advert blurb or if I open up the box is there supports to hook on up on inside ? I heard the 6900 uses SATA connections and the best to use for external expansion is a external drive with its own power supply. Is that true or have I got it the wrong way round ?
Also I'm re-mounting with a 1 m dish, motor & full sweep of sky, East Midlands, UK) so will be doing a full sweep of Sat's again. I have heard you can use some PC software from Clarke-Tech to re-arrange your FAV's etc (I don't fancy doing this on the remote). Is this any good does it work on the 6900 and is there any better alternatives I may consider ?
Thanks for taking the time to read this.

    6900 HDD

I just stuck a 1.5TB USB box on the back USB, works fine and leaves the front USB free for a mem stick.

Clarke Tech Studio Editor 3.10 works on a TM 6900 HD Super and has the most possibilities.
Not all eSATA hard drives work.
Not all external powered USB drives work as they should: going in to sleep mode and not waking up, annoying when used for timer recordings.
Would stick to internal powered USB hard drives.
If you open the box, you lose the warranty on it.
Do it easy with blind search: max 8 satellites at a time. you only have 10.000 allocations for radio and tv channels. Doing blind search on existing satellites with transponders will cause most likely in having double transponders and crashing out of memory.
Nice receiver and good features. don't forget to load the 688p and press the green button while viewing a channel. Great kit.

Hi there, I was after some info and did a search and pretty much found it so thought I'd continue on here if it gets read!
I am about to buy a Technomate 6900 HD combo super...is Technomate 6900 HD combo super "PLUS" just the same but black?
I called Technomate today to ask them if could connect a eSATA HDD for recording and they told me it was on the specifications by mistake, so glad you are saying you can connect but not working so well with standby for the "wake to record" then? Working better with a usb powered HDD, as some set top box don't provide enough usb power for a HDD.

Are Technomate 6900 HD combo super and Clarke Tech 5000 Plus exatly the same thing? one better spec or better firmware updates, customer service?
I noticed on some website they even had the same typo for the specs of both, a copy paste obviously!!
        Cheers

tm6900 super and hdd. I alternate between using a WD elements 500gb usb powered and a WD 1tb my book elite externally powered, had to refomat them both to fat32 but have had no problems so far? Think i did read though that problems can occur when the drives become fuller, as yet mine are only 20% in used. Ianvictor
