help with technomate 1000d

Hi i'm sure i'm going to sound like a nightmare newbie but please bare with me!!!
I've just purchased a technomate tm 1000d and loaded what i think is the latest patch= 1000d+_1000d_304p??
But i still can't get any movies or sports which i believe to be on Astra? Also can someone guide me to what soft keys are? how to use them and what they do?

1 west opens once you have loaded softcam. Astra is not open.
