I've been trying for weeks to get the super patch and soft cams to open channels on 0.8 Thor. Nothing I do seems to open any. Is there a definitive guide out there.

My receiver isTechnomate 5400 CI usb super. or have I bought a dud?

I will be grateful for any advice...

first off u need a nine pin null modem as this is the easiest way to transfer data (softcams) to the reciever .on this site go technomate then you will find the latest patch and softcam for you reciever.next once you have downloaded them make a folder called technomate patch and another called softcam using winrar unrar patch to the folder that you made same with softcam.next you need ctech this a bit of software u use to transfer the unrared patch or softcam to you reciver .when your ready to transfer simply put the reciever into standby transfer patch first if reciever comes on put back into standby and repeat the same for softcam make sure sat is on thor before you do this .if you did it correct bam u got digi tv loads of lovely channels .chheeeers m8

I don't seem to be making any progress with usb. Is there something I have to activate in the menu? When I look in BISS its always showing "off"?

usb is easiest as already stated by "fearona" as no loader is needed and you dont have to be near a computer. you are probably trying to load out of date soft cam, biss will show off.you need to look at the cas menu ident 2011.the softcam I"m sending was working ok last night dont forget to unzip it before loading on usb stick.

Thanks make, but it hasn't worked. I still get the dreaded scrambled channel message. I'm using the patch dated Sept 16. And I have AU switched off on all of options. Is my machine a dud or just me?

do it the way i suggested ya cannot go wrong, as for doing it the usb way it is hit and miss.i used to use usb i was in the same boat as you .since using null modem via pc softcams work everytime mate.

please reply to all the advice you have been given even if its to still say nothing has worked! Nothing is straight forward to us newbies, and as clear as it is to the veterans, to us there is always some little (1) step that completely throws us(me)? you get the drift?

its a null modem cable you need most electronics dealers should have one maplins etc.,I got mine from "cabling4less"

dont forget you will need the darkman loader if going down the rs232 socket route and use the keys tab.

just a though one this how are you loading the
patch via the memory stick, i have seen posts where some were useing the coloured buttons, these are for uploading from the receiver only
the attached doc shows how to load software with a memory stick

I can load the patch but the softcam won't clear the channels. Could my machine have a problem?

The null modem cable arrived; used the darkman loader etc, loaded the patch then the softcam, still nothing!!

Maybe it's the box. Should I wait until New Year and send the bugger back?

I don't know what else to do.
