After one crisis, comes another ...

My dad put the motor the right way up as Manic01 described and now I've lost all my channels. The signal level is sufficient at about 90% but the quality is roughly 20%, like previously.

It looks as if I'll have to send in the professionals, because there's a pub close to where I live that has a motorised dish (presumably for 3pm Premier League broadcasts), with the motor in the same direction as mine is now, and that obviously must work properly.

    Goodness me !

Try and do a factory reset on your receiver and that should correct your sat positions then:

1- Make sure your motor fixing pole is plumb.
2- Point your motor to South.
3- Using receiver send dish to 1'west Thor
4- Man handle ya dish to fine tune BBC WORLD 11.325H to best signal.
5- Tighten dish then move to 42'east and do the same on a Horizontal transponder.
6- Send dish back to 1'west just to check ya still receiving ok.
7- Send dish to 30'west and do same again.

This should get a beginner up and running and once this is done you will be able to move and scan the other sats in the arc probably with a spot of fine tuning through the receiver.

My motor can go as far as 75 degrees either way, so should I try to move it to the closest satellite to 'the edge' or to 42E and 30W, like you say ?

hi m8, concentrate on getting the best signal you can on 1 west. check a few of the different transponders both h and v as they are different strengths, if your getting 75% quality on 12.643v/h on intelsat 10-02 then your ok. then send your dish to turksat and do a scan and make sure your getting all the available channels on the west beam and do the same with hispasat. take your time and remember that a very small movement on your dish on earth equates to miles in space. when i was learing (still am) i was amazed how so little movement could affect the reception especially on the weaker trasnsponders. dont worry m8 you will get there eventually!!, regards mdt

My dish has never been patched although I am familiar with patching other electronic items.I would really be grteful for any help even if its just to tell me that i need someone out to realign the dish.
