About to buy a TM 5400 motorised system from Ebay.

    Hi all,

I am a complete noob to this motorised satellite game, and a mate of mine recently bought the above system and has installed it and is mainly watching a lot of football, although I reckon he's only scratching the surface.

I can't wait to get a system installed and begin to understand how it all works, but I thought I would check opinions prior to buying.
Does the TM 5400 motorised system seem a good bet?
Does the price of ?195-?200 on Ebay seem a decent price? (I live in Northern Ireland so delivery can be a bit extra)

    Thanks for your thoughts

hi m8, choose the technomate tm600 instead of the tm5400 as this will give you the same features and channels as the tm5400 motorised system but its also got a rj45 lan socket on the back so it can be used for c/s in the future, it will probably cost you about ?10 more. regards mdt

The tuner on the tm5400 is more sensitive but a linux box is the way to go now a days.

I have the TM 5400 system done ok out of it still get footy and other stuff (but for how long dont know) its worth going with a linux box on a motorised system loads of packages available bit more work to get it going but worth it.

          5400CI+ price etc

Also Newbie - That price seems a bit steep to me..seen for ?79.
Can this receiver get Thor Channels? do i need a Conax card with the multicrypt slot or do i need a Conax cam as well?
